The Chirping Moms

A Comprehensive New Book for Parents

November 19, 2014

Nowadays, there’s so much information available for parents. From Google to posting in parenting forums, you can get answers to questions immediately. As much as I heavily rely (and write) on the internet, I love resource books. I like reading solid information that I can highlight, fold a page down and return to it months or years later. Maybe it’s the research nerd in me, but a big books, packed with resourceful information are my favorite. I have a few go-to parenting books for the early months. Mostly with information highlighted on when babies reach what milestones. Even though I’m now on newborn #3, there is so much I forget about the first few months.

I recently got a book that’s jam packed with great information: Grow Healthy. Grow Happy. The Whole Baby Guide. This book is a comprehensive guide for natural parenting. The Whole Baby Guide helps parents nurture their babies together with nature’s principles to optimize their potential in the first three years of life. I wouldn’t consider myself someone who practices “natural parenting”, but I’m always interested to learn ways to incorporate some of it into our daily lives. I’m a believer in “every little bit helps”, so the tips in this book have been helpful. I haven’t read the book cover to cover yet, but have enjoyed what I have read.

The book helps to guide parents through essentials that are easy to understand and incorporate into their own lifestyle. That’s why I like it. I also like the helpful pictures, easy-to-follow-charts, and the author’s own family stories and photos.

Speaking of the author: Grow Healthy. Grow Happy. The Whole Baby Guide was written by the president of one of our favorite baby companies! The author, Becky Cannon, is the founder and owner of i play., Inc. I Play is a leader in the natural baby products industry that sells to retailers throughout the United States and to over 25 countries. Becky holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Child Development and Education. While living in Japan for three years, Becky taught at Muso Yochien (Dream Window Kindergarten), a Japanese school based on creative education that provides whole foods to its students, which she attributes much of her inspiration for writing this book.

Whole Food – Whole Food discusses essentials to establish your baby’s holistic foundation for healthy eating. It includes food groups, recipes, menu plans, and suggestions for going out and for celebrating special occasions.

Whole Living– Whole Living is a comprehensive resource on products and their ingredients. You will find a guide and reference list of products that you need and what to look for when shopping and making choices for your baby.

Grow Healthy. Grow Happy. The Whole Baby Guide is a great addition to your family library and would also make a great baby shower gift. For more information on the book, visit: www.growhealthygrowhappy.com
