The Chirping Moms

A Dino-Mite New Line from Mini Boden { & $750 Giveaway }

January 20, 2016

We have a thing for dinosaurs. Maggie started liking dinosaurs when she was about 3. We read a book about them and then she spotted a red one at the store and the rest is history.

At the girls’ preschool they spend a month learning all about dinosaurs and then conclude the month with a big “dinosaur night” at school with their Dads. I’ve never seen Maggie so excited to go to school as when they were learning about dinosaurs. Then, getting to take Dad to school for a whole night devoted to dinosaurs was a dream come true.

One of the many highlights of learning about dinosaurs at school was getting to make a special shirt to wear for dino night. Maggie made a hot pink, sparkly, glitter covered dinosaur shirt. She was so proud of it and wore it all the time. It was the first “girly” dinosaur shirt we had. Alex loved Maggie’s pink dino shirt too and for an entire year in preschool and it’s here! They’ve been studying dinosaurs in preschool and the “big night” is just a few weeks away.

It’s awesome because Maggie spends time helping Alex practice all the dinosaurs names at home. They make dinosaur projects together and play “fossil hunt”. What’s making us even more excited about dinosaurs this year is the new Florasaurus print from Mini Boden.

Like I said, the pink sparkle dino shirt Maggie made was the first and only “girl” dinosaur item we had. No matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find dinosaur items geared towards little girls. The girls had a few boy dinosaur shirts they’d pair with skirts, but they always wanted dino dresses. We couldn’t fin any…. until now. Mini Boden’s new Florasaurus print was inspired by Victorian fossil hunter Mary Anning and is one of the1st dino prints for girls! After I heard about the print and the woman who inspired the line, I looked into the story of Mary Anning and it’s amazing.

She started hunting for fossils with her dad as a little girl and after he passed away she continued to hunt for them to help support her family. She went on to make incredible discoveries and they became some of the most important geological pieces of all time, including the discovery of the first ever Ichthyosaurus.

I was so excited when I found a book about Mary Anning for kids. Maggie, Alex and I read it almost every night now and they play “fossil girl” together.

I’ve written about Mini Boden and the quality of their clothing many times before, but this time they’ve won me over even more with designing a line for little girls with a great, historical story behind it.

Now the Florasaurus line might be geared towards girls, but don’t worry, there are still plenty of awesome Mini Boden dinosaur items for boys too. We found some cool items for Tommy and a sweet little set of onesies for the new baby.

The girls are thrilled about the tiny shirts for the new baby. Maggie said “whether the baby is a boy or a girl they can wear these” and I am glad she thinks that.

We can’t wait to put all 4 kids in their Mini Boden dinosaur clothes together and head out on an adventure!
