The Art of Sleep: The New Rooms At Four Seasons Washington, DC

January 21, 2016

It’s not always easy to have a restful night with three little kids. When traveling with these little ones, one of which is still in a crib, it’s key to find a place where everyone can be comfortable, happy and have room to sleep. We’ve stayed many places, but not many have created as perfect of a stay as the Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC.

This past November, we had the pleasure of visiting the hotel soon after their room renovations were complete. We got to see first hand how they were transforming their rooms to create an artful, restful experience for all guests.

When we first walked in the room, we were blown away by how beautiful it was. From the art on the walls to the bright light shinning in, it made us instantly feel like we were on vacation. Then, as the kids ran around and got comfortable, we realized just how great the set up of the room was for a family.

Not once during our stay did we feel “on top of each other”.  There was room for the kids to spread out and play, space for Tommy to sleep soundly in a crib and space for Tom and I to relax together once the kids were all asleep.

The Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC  created the new rooms with the goal of perfecting the “Art of Sleep.” They paid close attention to art and created simple, uncluttered spaces that would welcome every type of guest. We noticed an appreciated the new style right away.

With three little kids that are pretty “wild travelers” a room that’s too cluttered or looks “breakable” puts me on edge. A simplified looking room like the one we had at Four Seasons Washington DC, had a luxurious feel, but in a much more comfortable way.

The new rooms also focused on guests’ sleep experience and were completely transformed by Four Seasons Signature Sleep. Our bed was wonderful and it was so convenient to have a pull out bed and roll away bed in another room for Maggie and Alex to have their own place to sleep. Tommy’s crib came with comfortable baby bedding and was much more like his crib at home, making a better sleeping experience for him while traveling!  So, to everyone’s surprise, we had a restful night in a hotel room with three kids under 6. Not one woke up until 7am!

After our nice night of rest, the relaxing stay didn’t end; it was time for breakfast in bed. When we travel, we always prefer in room dinning. When we’re going to have a busy day of activities and touring around a city, it’s nice to have a slow, relaxing start. Also, when will be eating lunch and dinner on the go, it’s nice to have one meal where we are not wrestling to keep 3 kids in their chairs! The in room breakfast at Four Seasons Washington, DC was amazing. It was the perfect way to wake up!

In addition to the incredibly comfortable new rooms, there were many other wonderful aspects of the hotel that made our stay perfect for family travel. Three of those were:

The Pool:

There was an indoor pool in the hotel’s fitness center that was a lot of fun. There were floats for the kids to enjoy and we had a lot of fun getting a chance to splash around in a pool on a cold November weekend.

The Dinning:

In addition to our in-room breakfast, we enjoyed dinner at the hotel at their steakhouse: Bourbon Steak. The food was delicious and they had the best kids menu we’ve seen. The kids enjoyed everything from the sampling of french fries to start to the “chocolate-y” desserts to finish. The staff was welcoming and cheerful and did all they could to make us feel comfortable dinning with 3 little ones. In addition to the kids being well fed and content, Tom and I enjoyed the steak and wine.

The Location:

The Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC is located in the heart of Georgetown. This was the first time I have stayed in Georgetown and it was the perfect location for family travel to Washington, DC. There were so many great restaurants and shops to walk to with the kids. More details on the Georgetown area and Washington DC sites with kids to come. Stay tuned!

If you are heading to Washington, DC with your family, I highly recommend checking out the new rooms at the Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC and enjoyed a restful night with their “Art of Sleep”.
