This year I’ve done almost all of my holiday shopping online. I miss going to stores but this year it just feels safest to shop from my own house. My kids usually shop at their school holiday boutique and this year that’s been cancelled. They were really bummed because they love picking out gifts for family, wrapping them and presenting them on Christmas Eve. They don’t do online shopping at ages 9 and 10 so I’m trying to figure out ways they can still have fun with gift giving this year. One way….make gifts! Today we’re sharing a fun DIY holiday gift kids can make: easy fleece knotted blankets.

For these blankets: no sewing but lots of cozy snuggles. These DIY blankets make great gifts and also great holiday decor. All you need is 2 pieces of fleece. We like using 1 yard each of 2 different patterns. Here’s a simple how to:

Easy Fleece Knotted Blankets

Supplies:

  1. 2 yards of fleece in 2 different colors/patterns. More or less fleece depending on the size of the blanket you want to make
  2. Scissors

Directions:

Place one piece of fleece on top of the other. Go around the blanket cutting strips about 3-4inches long. Then go around knotting the strips together. When you are done you have made your own blanket! It’s really that easy.

These make great gifts for anyone and it’s a DIY project that kids can make on their own and feel really proud about giving. My girls were so excited to find out that I had a way they could make a blanket as a gift without sewing (they don’t know how to sew). You can easily adjust the size and make these bigger or really small for a baby or a doll.

We made this craft as one of the #hohoholiday crafts with Pink Chicken. Our fun pink Santa pajamas in the photos are from Pink Chicken.
