The Chirping Moms

A Fun & Inexpensive DIY Party Favor

August 22, 2013

DIY Chalkboard Board Book : The Chirping Moms

With Alex’s 2nd birthday right around the corner, I’ve been trying to come up with fun ideas for party favors for toddlers. I made this little chalk board book last week. It was easy & very inexpensive. We have so many board books in our house. Also, when our library does their fundraising book sale, we always go & get the “fill a bag” deal. Maggie & Alex attended the sale with me last time & we ended up with a $5 bag stuffed with “very worn out” board books. I was trying to think of something to do with all of these little books & came up with mini chalkboard books for party favors! You could also make these books as a fun activity for your little ones. Last year, I made one out of a large board book. It created a giant chalk board coloring book.

How to make a chalk board book:

Supplies:

Old board books

Chalk board spray paint

Chalk

Ribbon

Directions:

Place board books on a drop cloth or newspaper. Spray paint the books page by page, letting them dry completely before moving on to the next page. When the book is all done, tie the chalk onto the book with the ribbon. You could also write a message on the cover with the chalk first like:

“Thank you for celebrating with me!”

Cool idea! Another fun one I found on line is the TickleMe Plant Party Favor!
In it you can grow a real house plant that moves and closes its leaves like crazy when you Tickle It!

This is so so so cute! And it's a great take-along for restaurants or other "quiet" places
