An Easy DIY Mason Jar Vase

August 22, 2013

Two of my favorite crafting supplies have come together in this simple, DIY vase: mason jars & ric rac.

I was staying with my cousin Kristin at the beach last week. After a few days I decided she is the Queen of Pinterest. Every night we had a delicious Pinterest meal, she has used Pinterest to find awesome ideas for her 5th grade students & she had some adorable mason jar crafts she was working on. I decided to join her in mason jar crafting. I tried to make something fast (while Alex napped & Maggie played on the deck next to us). This is what I came up with:

Supplies:

Mason jar

Gold spray paint

Gold ric rac

Hot glue or craft glue

Directions: Spray paint the mason jar. Don’t coat it too much in paint. We found that a thin layer & then another thin layer worked best. Otherwise the spray paints drips down the jar & dries that way.

Once the spray paint is totally dry, use glue to add the ric rac.

I love using this vase for summer flowers. My cousin had a great idea for her mason jar crafts: use it in the bathroom for makeup brushes.

I also made some Halloween mason jar crafts, but I’ll save those for another post!

Mason Jars are my favorite! I made a vase similar to this but the gold is SO much prettier! I love it.
