The Chirping Moms

A Sneak Peek At The Paddington Movie

January 12, 2015

One of my favorite things about the town we live in, is how easy it is to get to New York City. I love the city and really enjoy taking my kids to the city. There are so many exciting things to show them  and the girls really enjoy when I take them on “adventures”. We haven’t been in the city since before Tommy arrived, as I’ve been nervous to take a tiny baby into the city and nervous to venture anywhere with 3 kids in tow. When we received an invitation to get a sneak preview of the new Paddington movie, I knew it was time for a trip back to NYC! I’ve loved Paddington since I was a little girl and now Maggie and Alex do too.

I still have one of my Paddington books from when I was a kid. I pulled it out after Tom brought a Paddington Bear home from a business trip to London. They loved the stuffed bear and his stories. I read it to Maggie a lot before our trip to London last year. I would show her all the places Paddington went that we would soon see. The girls were so excited when I told them we were heading into New York City for a special adventure to see a Paddington movie! The event was in Lincoln Center, which happens to be one of my girls favorite places to run around in the city.

Thankfully my awesome aunt was meeting me at the theater to help with my crew of 3. It was a cold, snowy day in the city, which was perfect for an event sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Lines. The weather had everyone dreaming of warmer places. I didn’t realize that cruises left from NYC. That, combined with how long it takes to bundle up 3 little kids, made me want to hop on one of their ships with my family right away!

Before the movie, we heard from a very special guest: Nicole Kidman. She talked about the movie and being a mom. She shared that she’s always loved books and as a child would act out the books she read, which is what lead her to being an actress. She’s always been a favorite actress of mine, so it was a treat to see her in person! She plays the villain in Paddington and when Alex said she was scared of the “bad lady” in the movie, Maggie kept telling her “Alex, we just saw her in the theater, she’s really a nice mom. This is pretend”.

Next, we got to watch the movie. It was wonderful! My girls are not very big tv/movie kids. I think they’ve maybe sat through 2 or 3 movies before.  I thought for sure we’d watch some of it and then have to spend some time running around outside in the halls. To my surprise, they watched the entire film. Maggie loved seeing places we visited in London and Alex thought Paddington was the “funniest bear” she’s ever seen. As a parent, I thought it was entertaining, had a sweet message and was the perfect length movie for kids. It kept their attention and kept me entertained too. I’d highly recommend heading to the theater Friday to see it.

GIVEAWAY: In honor of the new Paddington movie coming out this week, we are giving away a Paddington book on our Facebook page this week. Head over to the post to enter. Paddington is a favorite character in our house and we hope you enjoy this fun, adorable bear too!

I was not compensated for this post. We were invited to this exciting event by The Moms. Some of the pictures in the post are courtesy of The Moms. Movie images are from IMDB. As always, all opinions are my own.
