American Girl Holiday Events: ‘Twas The Night Before by Cirque du Soleil

December 16, 2019

By: Courtney Byrne

Last year I took the girls to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular for the first time. We had a wonderful time and I honestly credit a lot of that to us doing the package through American Girl. You can read all about that trip here: Radio City Christmas Spectacular, American Girl Package.

This year, I wanted to take them to see another holiday show in New York City and before looking anywhere else, browsed to see if American Girl had another other shows they partner with at the holidays. I spotted an American Girl package to see ‘Twas The Night Before by Cirque du Soleil. I have seen a different Cirque du Soleil show in the past and knew it would be something Maggie and Alex would enjoy and decided this would be our holiday outing in New York City this year.

The American Girl Package:

We arrived to Rockefeller Center around 4pm so we could see The Tree at Rockefeller Center first. Then we went into the store for some shopping. The event itself kicked off at 5:15pm when we checked in for dinner. The package includes a full dinner, drinks & dessert at the American Girl Cafe, which is something to really consider in the cost of the package. It makes it a great deal when you think about eating dinner in NYC at the holidays. At the dinner, the kids also got cute gift bags with a holiday cookie, notebook, etc.

After dinner, we met someone from American Girl who led us all to a bus to the show. This is also a huge perk because you don’t have to worry about getting from American Girl to MSG. The girls thought the bus ride was so fun – it was a bus of girls with their dolls! American Girl gave out the tickets, so then once you got off the bus you could go in, get snacks, etc and find seats at your leisure.

American Girl did a GREAT job finding a fabulous holiday show for kids. My girls were in awe of the performance and at the edge of their seats the whole time. The holiday music and the way they “performed” the story of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” was awesome.

I would highly recommend the show and the package with American Girl. If you are ever planning a day out in New York City with your girls, I always recommend checking the American Girl site to see if they have any events going on. Whether they are in-store events or in-store + an outing like this Cirque show, I find them to always be fun, well organized and cost effective. They help simplify a day in the city… which is not easy to find!
