This Year’s Special Christmas Handprint Craft

December 15, 2016

Janie and Jack Christmas Handprint

The holiday season is so magical with little kids in the house. As much as I try not plan too much and just enjoy the season, it always flies by. Each year I try to follow through with more traditions, reading more stories and baking more, but it doesn’t seem to happen. I decided to just kick back and enjoy the season and see what traditions stick over the years, rather than forcing them. One thing that I realized has become somewhat of a tradition is making a holiday handprint or footprint craft with the kids. I noticed as I unpacked our Christmas bins this year that I had one for almost every year since Maggie was born and found a great place to display them.

I love looking at them all lined up and can’t believe how quickly we went from 2 tiny feet to 8. I wanted to think of a special handprint project to do this year for Miles’ first Christmas. We made a Handprint Christmas Wreathe. Here’s what I came up with:

Janie and Jack Christmas Handprint

Miles tiny feet are the bow of the wreathe. The wreathe is made up of Maggie, Alex and Tommy’s handprints. I love how it’s like a circle of his siblings hands are welcoming in his little feet to the family.

To make this craft, I started with a large square canvas. I drew the wreathe in pencil first. Next I made Miles’ footprints at the bottom. Then I followed the circle with the other kids’ hands. Since taking the photo of the project, I’ve written each of the kids names next to their hands and feet.

This is one of my favorite handprint crafts yet. It’s such a special Christmas symbol for our complete family and our first Christmas as a family of 6.

Another favorite tradition is new Christmas pajamas! This year’s are from Janie and Jack. I love button down pajamas and the girls traditional plaid pajamas are adorable. The smocking at the top and peter pan collar make them even sweeter. Tommy loves firetrucks, so I was pretty exited to find him new Christmas pajamas with firetrucks on them and even more excited that they came small enough to get a matching pair for baby brother. Along with great Christmas pajamas, Janie and Jack has accessories to match like comfy socks and furry slippers. Order today for Christmas delivery.

This crew is ready for Santa!
