The Chirping Moms

DIY Descendants Costumes

October 21, 2019

“It’s good to be BAD”! Raise your hand if you know LOTS of kids being Descendants characters this Halloween. There will be lots of Mal, Evie & Audrey… but what about 3 new characters my kids LOVED?! Today I present 3 Easy DIY Descendants costumes: Dizzy and The Smee Twins, Squeaky & Squirmy! These are EASY last minute costumes so if you already have a Descendants character ready to go, these are great add ons for friends or family. The Dizzy costume is FUN to make (hello… paint splatter on your Primary dress?!) and the Smee Twins are ALL comfy clothes to wear again from Primary.

FYI Primary has started offering FREE shipping until their “get-it-before Halloween” cutoff on 10/25! You can also use code CHIRPINGMOMS for 25% off at Primary.com!

DIY Dizzy Costume

Supplies:

  • Long sleeve dress: we picked the super soft Spruce colored dress from Primary.com
  • Black Apron
  • Black 50’s style glasses
  • Tutu (optional)
  • Various paint colors

Directions:

To get the paint splattered look for Dizzy’s outfit, start with laying down a painting drop cloth or plastic table cloth. Spread out the long sleeve dress and apron. Fill a paper cup or bowl with your first paint color. Dip a paint brush (or straw, plastic knife or old pencil) in the paint and wave it back and forth over the dress and the apron. Repeat with another color until you think you’ve splattered enough paint. Use the same paint colors to get the splattered look on Dizzy’s black 50’s style glasses. For this, I found the easiest thing to do was to dip my finger in the paint and dab the glasses. When you’re ready to dress as Dizzy, add her signature hairstyle: two pigtail buns and you are ready to rock!

DIY Smee Twins Costumes: Squeaky and Squirmy

Supplies:

  • Striped Shirt: we used a PJ shirt from Primary
  • Jeans: we used these from Primary
  • Red vest: we used this one
  • Red hat: this red hat is perfect
  • white wig
  • Glasses

Directions: This one is so easy that the only direction is to “get dressed” in all the supplies!

These DIY Descendants costumes are sure to be a hit this Halloween. They’d also be fun for a Descendants themed birthday party or even just for fun dress up outfits. Don’t forget Primary has started offering FREE shipping until their “get-it-before Halloween” cutoff on 10/25! You can also use code CHIRPINGMOMS for 25% off at Primary.com.

Pin these costumes for later!
