The Chirping Moms

DIY Tea Set

August 15, 2013

DIY Tea Set : The Chirping Moms

Like many little girls, Maggie & Alex love playing tea party. We have a real tea set, that while it’s meant for little ones, it’s very breakable. It’s fine for when we all sit down to play together, but I wanted something a little more durable for them to play with.

DIY Tea Set : The Chirping Moms

I searched around for one to buy & then thought it might be fun to make them a set. I browsed around Etsy & Pinterest for inspiration & this is what I came up with:

Our DIY Wooden Tea Set

I got all of the supplies at a craft store. Basically I walked around the wood aisle & picked out items that could work for pretending to play “tea” or have a pretend picnic.

Supplies:

Wood tray

Wood hearts (cookies)

Wood circles (plates)

Wood “cups”

Wood containers

Paint

Paint brushes

Stencil

Paint the wood pieces you select, let dry & then play! It was easy, fun & rewarding. The girls love this set & play with it every day.

Here is a little video of the set being made:

What I love best about this set is that it's totally unique – nobody else will have one like it. That's got to be cool for the kids! 🙂 (And besides, it just looks fun!)
