The Chirping Moms

Easy DIY Tiara

March 15, 2013

It’s hard to keep up with the long list of characters Maggie likes to act out throughout the day. She prefers you call her whatever she is at that moment & likes to dress the part as well. An example of our day:

Wakes up. I say good morning Maggie & she says “i’m a little baby bear cub, put me back in my cave, but first pet the fur on my back”.

After breakfast: “I’m Simba & your a hyena. Can I wear my Simba shirt & you chase me around the house as fast as you can?”.

And it goes on, and on all day.

Recently she saw an episode of Sofia the First. Well of course I had to call her Sofia the rest of the afternoon & Alex became Amber. Maggie wanted a tiara like Sofia’s to wear & we didn’t have any in our dress up supply. I whipped this up in the kitchen with an old headband & it’s been a hit. We’ve since made quite a few!

Supplies:

A headband

Tape

Construction paper

Scissors

Directions:

Take the headband & turn it on it’s side. Cut out a “tiara shape” of your choice from the construction paper. You want it to only be about as long as the middle, most round part of the headband (see picture). Then tape it to the headband. Add any other shapes, colors etc on for fun. Put it on their heads like a tiara or crown would sit, not the normal way you put a headband on.

This would be a fun project for girls, a little older, to make at a birthday party. You could add stickers, glitter, etc.

Have fun with your little princesses!

Your little girl is ADORABLE. What an incredibly imagination she has. She must keep you on your toes. We are HUGE fans of Princess Sophia. My own little princess would LOVE this. Thanks for sharing.
