Festive Ways to Serve Cheese & Crackers

December 18, 2013

Back in November, I was snack mom for Maggie’s class. They asked for a Thanksgiving themed snack, but due to various allergies in the class, I was trying to stay away from baked goods. I wasn’t sure what to send. I mean what 3 year old was going to be thrilled with a cup of stuffing at snack time? I was stumped until I saw a mini cookie cutter shaped like a turkey. We eat cheese non stop in our house, so I immediately thought: mini turkey cheeses. They were a hit with the class & so easy to make.

So, as Christmas & holiday parties approached, I decided to get some more mini cookie cutters & have some more fun with cheese.

You can often get mini cookie cutters in a set, like this one. Then, just slice the cheese & make fun shapes.

Unlike cookie dough, you can’t “roll out” the scraps & reuse. But, have no fear, no cheese went to waste in this project. I put all the scraps into a zip lock & the kids snacked on it all week. They call it “funny cheese” because of the odd shapes & think it’s hysterical/ delicious.

The festive cheese was a hit, especially my Cabot Cheese Christmas lights!

Next time I plan on making my snowmen a little more detailed: maybe add some olive eyes & a carrot nose. We have a holiday party Thursday, where I’ll try out some cheese angels with Cheerio halos. Keep an eye out for those!

We were not compensated for this post. We did get some Cabot cheese to try, after meeting them at a fun holiday party. As always, all opinions are our own.
