Friday Favorites: Great Chocolate & A Great Cause

October 19, 2012

Today’s Friday Favorites includes my favorite new chocolate, my favorite cause & one of my favorite people, all tied together by the fantastic new company: Lily’s Sweets.

Lily’s Sweets is an innovative new chocolate company that makes the first Fair Trade Certified, stevia-sweetened chocolate bars. Their chocolate bars contain no added sugar, no artificial ingredients and no GMOs. The dark chocolate is  sweetened with stevia, a natural sweetener. You can get a lot more information on how they are made & the ingredients on their website. So far we have had the original, crispy & almond. We love them all. The kids like it to! I have known Chuck Genuardi, one of the company’s founders, for a long time & know he has a lot of experience in the Natural Foods Industry. I know he would only use the best for this line of chocolate, so if my kids get a chocolate treat, Lily’s

Sweets it is!

Another wonderful thing about this company is that Lily’s Sweets donates a portion of their profits to grass roots non-profits that support childhood cancer survivors and fighters. The gold ribbon on the Lily’s package is a symbol of support in the fight against childhood cancer. Lily, who the company is named for, is Chuck’s niece & one of my favorite kids! I have know Lily since the day she came home from the hospital. I babysat for her & her sister all through college. I actually used to babysit for Lily in my dorm room! Anyway, Lily & her family became like my own family when I was in college & far from home. A few years after graduation, I was heart broken to get news that Lily had a brain tumor & would need surgery. She has been an amazing fighter. I saw her last summer & could not believe how strong she looked. Lily is one awesome kid!

Here she is helping her uncle sell Lily’s Sweets.

You can use this store locator to find where you can buy this delicious chocolate & help the fight against childhood cancer.

Be sure to follow Lily’s Sweets on Facebook for fun updates.

Lily’s Sweets will also send 2 bars of chocolate to a few lucky readers!

The winners are: Lindsey B, Jennifer R, & Heather P. Thanks everyone!

Oh & here’s a fun Halloween project to do with your Lily’s Sweets bar:

Wrap chocolate bar with orange paper, draw on a jack o lantern face & tie with ribbon. Enjoy!
