Friday Favorites: Little Uni Birthday Plate (& Giveaway)

March 29, 2013

Growing up, birthdays were full of traditions. My parents had a special way of making all holidays full of meaningful traditions. Birthdays were extra special, because the day & traditions were all about each of us. Looking back, I realize my parents must have worked extra hard to make sure the day was all about us, considering my brothers & I all have birthdays within 10 days of each other. It never felt like our birthdays blended together; we all got our own big day. Nothing crazy, but we always knew we got to pick what Mom would cook for dinner, there would be cards & gifts on the table, the same delicious cake made each year & a special shopping trip with our grandma.
This was the first year Maggie knew her birthday was coming up & I wanted to make the day extra special. I also wanted to start some traditions we’d continue for years to come. I was on the hunt to find something we could take out each year on her birthday. That’s where the Little Uni Birthday Plate came into play. This personalized plate was full of birthday donuts when Maggie woke up in the morning & she used it for dinner too. She pointed out that we all had our “regular” plates at dinner & she had her “cake plate” so I know she liked! There are 3 candles, so we’ll remember she got it on her 3rd birthday.
The Little Uni Birthday Plate is a wonderful addition to your birthday decor & makes a great gift. Recently Parent’s Magazine named it one of ten great ideas for a first birthday.
In addition to the birthday plate, Little Uni has a whole line of beautiful personalized plates. You can shop their plate selection & their whole site at 15% off with code CHIRP15. Also, one lucky reader will win a personalized plate! Enter below.

When I was little my birthday tradition was always getting a popcorn cake from my grandma. With my kids now, I the tradition is to take them out to dinner (their choice) and have cake and presents at home with just the family and then a big party with friends.

A birthday tradition at our house is to decorate the kids doorways into their bedrooms with streamers. When they wake up, lots of streamers hanging down to start off the festivities.
