A Fun Idea for a Jack & Jill Wedding Shower

January 24, 2017

Jack and Jill Shower ideas

I recently helped throw my first Jack & Jill wedding shower. To be honest, as trendy as they are right now, it’s also the first one I had attended. A Jack & Jill shower is a fun new take on the traditional wedding shower, where it’s in celebration of both the bride and the groom. Both men and women attend the shower. It was a lot of fun, and looking back, it would have been fun to have when I got married. The event was at a winery in the city on a snowy winter night. There were tons of candles, big barrels as tables and simply the prettiest setting for an evening wedding shower.

The shower was for my cousin and her fiancé. She is a very laid back, easy going bride and her only request was that we incorporate some “his and hers favorites”. Her favorite: candy. His favorite: beer. She had seen a picture of a his and hers favorites bar for guests to enjoy and I thought that sounded like a great idea. We created “her favorites” and “his favorites” tables near the entrance. They looked festive and then acted as the favors for the shower.

Her Favorites:

My cousin loves candy. She especially loves all the fun old fashioned candy like candy wax bottles, candy dots and candy necklaces. Some of her other favorites are super colorful candy like Skittles and Airheads. So we got all of her favorites and then added in some white candy to make more of a wedding theme. Oriental Trading had great candy for a candy bar. They had a lot of the “favorite” candy we were looking for in addition to white gummy bears (that were also delicious), white rock candy and solid colored candy strips.

His Favorites:

For “his” favorites, the theme was beer. We got a cans of the grooms favorite beer and displayed them in koozies that had the couples wedding hashtag on them. I ordered them from Oriental Trading. I didn’t know Oriental Trading had so many neat items that could be personalized.

It’s perfect for events leading up to a wedding because it seems like every couple creates a wedding hashtag now. Putting the hashtag on items used at the events or on the favors is a fun way to remind guests and get them used to seeing and using the tag! Last, but certainly not least, one of the super talented bridesmaids made a sign for the “his favorites” and “her favorites” tables. She knows how to make wood burned signs and created one that said “Something Old, Something New, Something Brewed” to go on HIS table. Then on HER table, a sign that said “You’re Sweet like Candy to my Soul”. The wood signs looked perfect with the rustic decor at the winery and helped tie in their “favorites” with a wedding theme.

We were not compensated for this post. We did receive items from Oriental Trading for the purpose of review. As always, all opinions are my own.
