Kicking Off Disney Week On the Blog {& An Elsa Dress and Musical Wand Giveaway!}

May 5, 2014

Keep up with all of our Disney Week posts by following our Disney Pinterest Board!

A few months ago we took our kids to Disney World for the first time. We only went for a few days, but it really was magical for the whole family. I spent a lot of time preparing. We didn’t have a big budget for the trip and also wanted to see as much as we could in a short amount of time. This week I’ll be sharing different tips, special Disney moments, Disney DIY projects and some fun surprises. We’re kicking the week off, as we usually do, with a giveaway.

Having two mega Frozen fans in my house, I know how much little girls love to dress up, sing and play Frozen. So I am very excited to team up with Jakks Pacific to giveaway an Elsa Dress and an Elsa Musical Snow Wand. It’s not easy to find anything Elsa in stores, especially these coveted dresses, so I’m thrilled to be able to mail one to a lucky little girl (enter using the Rafflecopter at the end of the post).

My girls dress in costume almost every day. When we were preparing for our trip to Disney world I knew that they would want to dress up every minute we were there.

My Disney tip for today:  Go prepared.

It’s really hard to tell a 4 year old princess fanatic that she can’t wear a gown when thousands of other girls are walking around in them. It’s also hard to avoid the hundreds of souvenir shops.

So here’s what we did:

1. Bring princess dresses along with you from home. I packed a bunch from our dress up bin.

2. Getting costumes and accessories like the ones from Jakks Pacific (we typically buy ours at Target) save A LOT over park prices.  One night the girls got new Anna and Elsa dresses and crowns as a surprise. While they were at the pool with my husband, I snuck back to the room and put the dresses and crowns on the bed. We told the girls Anna and Elsa left them a special surprise to wear to their big princess dinner at Epcot. They were SO surprised and excited.

3. Get a gift card for souvenirs. My parents got Maggie a Disney gift card for her birthday (and Alex one too). This worked out so well. We explained to the girls that those cards were the way you pay for souvenirs and once they ran out, that was it. I couldn’t believe what a conscious shopper that made Maggie! They each had a $50 gift card and that was plenty for souvenirs and some candy at the candy shop on Main Street too.

4. Bring little surprises from home to use as souvenirs. The same way we surprised the girls with the princess dresses, you could save a lot by leaving a “surprise from Mickey” in the room (that was actually from the dollar store back home).

5. In addition to wearing costumes daily, kids will probably want to wear Disney shirts, sweatshirts, etc too. This is another thing to come prepared with. It makes dressing for a day at the park fun! I’ll have some easy ways to make your own Disney gear tomorrow.

In addition to princess dresses, Jakks Pacific has many other princess toys, accessories and dolls. My girls wear their Anna and Elsa costumes all the time. They also love singing the Frozen soundtrack, so the Elsa Musical Snow wand has been a huge hit. Maggie got one from her aunt for her birthday. Another favorite in our house is the Elsa doll. This has been a tough one to “take turns” with, but luckily it comes with a little Olaf, so someone can be Elsa and someone can be Olaf. The biggest battle of the day is always: who’s turn is it to sleep with Elsa in their room.

Now for the giveaway! One lucky winner will receive an Elsa dress (the costume pictured on the girls) and an Elsa Musical Snow Wand. Good luck Frozen fans!

    My girls BOTH love the movie but so far, we've only been able to find one Elsa dress. And they're kind of not the same size so they kind of can't share it. SO this one would be for my 4 year old! They would probably share the wand though. Maybe? Hopefully? Haha!
