DIY Disney Clothes & Park Gear

May 6, 2014

Disney Week on the blog continues with some fun DIY projects!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I wanted to pack some fun Disney clothes and gear. I also didn’t want to blow whole our vacation budget before we left for the trip. I came up with a few easy, inexpensive ways to make some cute Disney items for the girls before we left.

Here’s what I came up with:

Personalized Minnie Mouse Tank Tops

I had 2 plain white tank tops. I ironed on appliques with their initial from Once Upon A Design. Took just a few minutes!

Minnie Mouse Dress
How To: I created the bottom of the dress using my Simple Skirt Pattern. I was so glad I found giant ric rac for the bottom! I left the top of the skirt “unfinished” and did not add the elastic.
Next I ironed a Minnie Mouse applique, from Once Upon A Design, onto an old t-shirt. Then, I turned the skirt and shirt inside out and sewed them together. I didn’t do the greatest job on this part, but the extra wide black ribbon, hid that! Another, easier, idea for this outfit: Use the Simple Skirt Pattern to make a Minnie Mouse Skirt (red polka dot fabric & black ric rac). Then simply make a matching shirt using an iron on applique.

Mickey Mouse Dress & Shirt

I had a red & white striped shirt for Alex and a solid pink cotton dress for Maggie (both from Old Navy). I ironed on Mickey Mouse appliques from Once Upon A Design. 2 more outfits in just a few minutes, for a few dollars!

Personalized Water Bottles
I ordered some awesome decals from Etsy shop, One Good Name. These were perfect for making personalized Disney water bottles. You could also use them to make snack cups, coffee tumblers, etc.

There’s more Disney fun coming your way this week!
