The Chirping Moms

“Kid Art” Memory Book

May 30, 2013

Today is Aiden’s last day of his preschool this year!  (Tear, tear…that’s a whole other post for another time.  When did my baby boy grow up so quickly?  Thankfully, he has one more year at home before he heads off to kindergarten.  I’m already getting sad about that moment…)

I don’t know if you are like me, but I have been a preschool artwork junkie, collecting every piece of work that has come home with him since the first day of school.  I’m a sentimental person and love to collect all things special, including my son’s first pieces of art.  But we only have so much space in this house of ours, so I got creative last year and created an “Art Work” memory book from Shutterfly.

I took pictures of all the art work that he made and compiled it all into one scrapbook.  The book consists of artwork collage pages of all his creations.  Instead of storing a big pile of art work, now I  have this beautiful book!  My plan is to keep creating a book for each kid year after year.

To see the complete scrapbook that I created in Shutterfly, look below or click here to see the photo book in a larger screen! (For some reason, the book is only loading in some browsers so make sure to click the link if you can’t see the preview!)

What other ways do you store or collect your child’s art?
Now,
I’m off to enjoy the last couple hours of two children, versus three, while Aiden is having a blast at school!
Few loads of laundry, extra snuggles, and some outside playtime before
we go pick our big boy up.

I love this idea and certainly need to do this. I am drowning in artwork that Mason has brought him and I can't seem to throw any of it away.

The timing of this post couldnt be better. I have piles of school art work that I wasn't sure what to do with but this idea would solve that problem.

love.love.love this idea. i did it for my daughter's first and second years of preschool and then just actually finished taking pictures of all the art from her last year…i also include pictures from school events, class pictures, field trips, etc. her preschool photo books have become her favorite stories to read at night.
