Lactation Boosting Overnight Oats

August 18, 2020

By Kate of @beyondfitmom

If you’re looking for a quick, easy and delicious breakfast recipe to enhance your breastmilk production while boosting your overall nutrition, you’re in the right spot! Have you ever tried lactation boosting overnight oats?

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite breakfast recipes breastfeeding mamas (and the whole family!

Busy mamas love overnight oats for the simplicity…. They are an easy way for busy mamas to pack in some much-needed nutrition amidst their chaotic mornings spent chasing the kids.  Here are a few more reasons I love overnight oats…

 Overnight Oats Are Versatile

Not only are overnight oats quick and easy to make, they are extremely versatile. You can experiment and brainstorm endless variations and stir-ins, which helps to keep things interesting and make breakfast on the go fun and satisfying. All you need to make overnight oats are your oats of choice (we recommend our organic, quick cook rolled oats), your liquid, and a sweetener.

Overnight Oats Are Time and Money Savers

Ingredients for overnight oats aren’t super expensive, and because they are so filling, you may eat less throughout your day. This makes them ideal for those on a budget. Plus, prepping your overnight oats before bed probably takes less than 5 minutes, and when you wake up in the morning, they are ready to rock! No cooking, no mess, no fuss. You can prep all your add-ins the night before as well and have them ready to stir in, or bag them up to take with you. Yum and done!

Overnight Oats are Healthy

Oats are a great source of soluble fiber, oats help to slow down the absorption of carbohydrates into the bloodstream, which helps to avoid spikes in your blood sugar levels. They are also a great source of magnesium as well as other vitamins & minerals.

In addition to the oats, you’ll find this healthy breakfast recipe contains buckwheat, which is known for it’s amazing health benefits including; vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and fiber.

According to Healthline, buckwheat contains; manganese, copper, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus. Buckwheat has also been found to be richer in antioxidants than many other common cereal grains.

And because your body’s demand for protein is 20 percent higher when you’re pregnant or lactating, this delicious overnight oats recipe has an added scoop of Majka’s Nourishing Lactation Protein Powder in Green Vanilla!   (This powder was specifically designed to fill in the nutritional gaps of a breastfeeding mother)

Lactation Boosting Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of Buckwheat Hot Cereal (this is what I use and love)
  • ¼ cup of Steel Cut Oats
  • 1 cup of nut milk
  • 1 scoop of Protein Powder
  • 1 tbsp of almond butter
  • 1 tsp of coconut nectar (or sweetener of choice)
  • Fresh cut fruits and nuts of choice for topping

Directions:

  1. Mix ingredients together in a reusable container the night before
  2. Leave oats in the fridge overnight and you’ll have a delicious breakfast in the morning
