Disney Party Idea: A Toy Story Pajama Party!

May 16, 2013

We had so much fun painting Alex’s room. We had even more fun showing the room to our friends at our Toy Story Pajama Party! I was so impressed with the colors & quality of the Disney Glidden paints & our guests were too. My favorite part of Alex’s room is the chalkboard squares we made using the Great Slate finish. None of the Moms I’ve shown this to knew you could get colored chalkboard paint. One mom suggested other things I could write in the squares for Alex like “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” when she reaches certain milestones.

Since we used the Great Slate tintable chalkboard paint in the room, we tied that into our party theme. All of the kids got their own chalkboard with colorful chalk. We used the chalkboards to have a scavenger hunt. Since none of the kids can read yet, we made our scavenger hunt like following a treasure map around the yard.

Along with their chalkboard “maps”, each kid received a fun Toy Story Alien bag to collect all their prizes on the scavenger hunt. The bags were very easy to make! I bought green gift bags at Walmart. Then I cut out a bunch of large white circles & small black circles to make the eyes. After glueing those on, I cut out & glued on the green antennas.

Before the kids were let loose in the yard, Moms were given a stash of prizes & sent to one of the scavenger hunt locations. Then the kids ran around the yard like crazy!

It was so cute seeing them try to follow their chalkboard scavenger hunt lists. Then, once they had a bag full of goodies, they quickly erased the chalkboard & went to work coloring with their new chalk.

They loved all the prizes! I found bubbles, Toy Story stickers & candy necklaces at Walmart.

After the kids were done running around outside, we went inside for some more pajama party fun. The pizza man arrived with dinner & we set up a big picnic blanket in the family room. The kids ate dinner & then the movie began: Toy Story. The kids were so excited to watch a movie in their pjs with friends. Along with the movie, they enjoyed popcorn & Toy Story cupcakes I made.

Everyone had a lot of fun & we are really proud of how our room turned out. I enjoyed using the Disney Glidden paints & look forward to trying out another one of the creative finishes in the future. Maybe I’ll tackle the playroom next!
