The Chirping Moms

A Saturday Morning full of Garage Sales…

June 12, 2012

So my Saturday morning started out a little crazy…
I decided to let my husband sleep in and we started the morning with a little make-your-own breakfast.  Anyone else have three year olds who want to do it all on their own????  Nothing like making some sticky, messy oatmeal all on your own:)
So after this chaotic breakfast time, I quickly hopped out (all on my own!) and picked up Courtney to do one of our favorite Saturday morning adventures…GARAGE SALES!  If you are a mom and haven’t hit garage sales yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking some time to yourself and get out there!  Here are a few tips before you get started:

  • Know what you are looking for (or you may end up coming home with arms full of DVD tv seasons and used furniture that you won’t know what to do with but you HAD to get because they were such an amazing deal!)
  • Shop around…one house will price toddler shirts for two dollars each while a house down the street has them for fifty cents!!!!  The more you garage sale, the more you set your limits!
  • Make sure you clean out your car so you have lots of extra space (See below for everything we fit in our car)!
This was my most successful shopping trip ever.  Are you ready to see what we got for $4.50 total…
One picnic table, one pirate ship water table and…
A sand wagon full of sand toys and…this massive pile of stuff–bike helmet, Hot Wheels and helicopters, three DVD’s, three board games, a Mickey Mouse puzzle, baseball glove, and several books.  Missing—the Hess fire truck that my boys keep fighting over:)
Now look at a couple of Courtney’s hot finds…a Step 2 push car…

And it looks like someone loved their slide we wrestled into the car;)

Now I have to say that this was our LUCKY day—-the first garage sale we pulled up to had almost everything marked as free—did you hear that—yes, free…we were lucky women on Saturday!  Does any one else love garage sales as much as we do around here?!?!
And don’t forget to enter our giveaway posted yesterday for a gift certificate for the Sweet and Sassy Boutique by Friday!  And there is a bonus entry…if you “like” The Chirping Moms Facebook page, you automatically are entered into the contest this week!  Their stuff is SO adorable!!!!!!
