Shoes for The Baby & The Toddler

September 23, 2016

Stride Rite Soft Motion Shoes

We had a big milestone for Miles this month: first shoes. He’s not ready to walk, but when we were measuring feet and getting shoes for his siblings, he joined in on the fun. He’s really strong and loves standing up when we hold him. Plus, with the cold mornings ahead, I knew he needed to cover up those little feet. First shoes are always special. I have all of my kids’ first shoes saved and love looking back at how tiny they are. It’s so funny to see their faces and their reaction to having shoes on for the first time.

Miles got shoes to match his big brother Tommy’s fall shoes. Tommy’s feet grew a lot this summer and he needed some new fall shoes to keep up with his wild and crazy days.

For both our 1st shoes for baby and shoes for a growing, active toddler, I chose Stride Rite Soft Motion shoes. We’ve had Stride Rite shoes in our house for years and it’s a brand I grew up with too. I love how well they’re made and how they last. It’s also important to me that Stride Rite Toddler Soft Motion shoes, a line specifically geared towards little feet that are learning to walk and exploring new things as a toddler.

I like that you can select the width for the shoes too. Maggie and Tommy both needed wide shoes as toddlers and Alex and Miles have very narrow feet. Stride Rite has had shoes to fit all of their very different feet. Also, with super wide feet, I was excited to find a fall boot that I could actually get on and off Tommy’s feet. The Soft Motion boots are great!

Here are 5 reasons that Soft Motion are perfect for toddlers:

  1. They have rounded soles improve balance2.
  2. Their flexibility is important for natural movement
  3. The oversize openings make for for easy-on
  4. They have memory foam footbeds for extra comfort for tiny feet
  5. The secure closures to keep shoes on their tiny feet

Stride Rite has an awesome section on their website called Walking 101.  It has a great Q&A for parents of first time walkers – with tips and answers to all the new walker questions. You can also use their site to help you find the right size (click here). I love baby feet, so I got a kick out of this video on how to measure your kid’s foot at home. It’s great to watch if you want to order shoes online.

One cool thing I recently discovered about Stride Rite is their rewards program. It’s really good and with 4 kids with quickly growing feet, the rewards add up fast here! You can view all the details and sign up here.

Also, if you shop before the end of September, you will receive DOUBLE value for any qualifying Little Kid purchases or on shoes up to size 10. You can use the rewards program when shopping online, in store or even at the outlet.

Stride Rite Soft Motion Shoes

I’d highly recommend Stride Rite Toddler Soft Motion shoes. We’ve had so many great pairs for our little ones. The are so active at this age and learning so many new things while they walk and climb. It’s so important to have shoes that support their growing feet.
