The Chirping Moms

Spring at Woodloch Pines Resort

May 11, 2016

Woodloch Resort has become one of our favorite family resorts to visit. We have gone a few times now and each time we have even more fun! I am so happy to share a special coupon code for Woodloch Resort: use code Chirping to get a 15% discount on your stay! Click here to book:  Woodloch Deal

We just got back from our first vacation as a family of 6. We were excited to go and also really nervous. It’s not easy traveling with kids and traveling with kids that are 6, 4, 18 months and 3 months sounded pretty crazy. But… we set out on our first big adventure and had a blast. We couldn’t have asked for a better trip and really that’s due to the location we chose: Woodloch Pines Resort in Pennsylvania. There is a reason it’s ranked as the #1 family resort in the United States. It’s truly an exceptional place for families. From fun things to do for all ages to a staff that caters to every family need, they think of everything.

This was our second trip to Woodloch. We visited a few years ago when the girls were 2 and 4. Maggie, still remembered the indoor pool and the bear in the lobby. She always asked when we would return. Once we told her we booked a trip back, she had a “countdown to Woodloch” going because she was so excited.

One reason why I think Woodloch is great for families is the restaurant. An all inclusive resort, with a wonderful family restaurant can really make a vacation. We knew exactly where we would be eating all of our meals and knew we could arrive any time during the allotted window and our table was ready. It was always the same table with the same server which makes a huge difference to us. The kids quickly get comfortable with the environment and the people and they knew what to expect. This made for great family meals – honestly we had fun eating with 4 kids under 7. There were zero meltdowns, quick service (when requested) and food the kids ate. Friday night was my birthday and it was the best birthday dinner (and dessert) I’ve had in years. Their food is delicious and the options each night were great. There are also characters at the meals which makes it even more fun for the kids and cool theme nights on Saturday evenings.

If you asked the kids what their favorite part about Woodloch was, they would definitely answer “indoor pool!”. The indoor Kiddie Splash Pool and the new Indoor Splash zone are awesome. They are clean, super entertaining and the water is nice and warm. We spent hours there each day.

There’s also an indoor pool that we swam in as a family and a nice little indoor toddler pool. One thing I don’t like to pack are the kids’ Puddle Jumpers. They never dry completely before we head home and they take up so much room. Woodloch has tons of Puddle Jumpers to use! They are just like the ones we have at home and it was a relief to have them right there at the pool to use.

Speaking of indoor activities: we also love the Kids Craft Room and the indoor playground. We didn’t have the best weather during our visit and it was honestly no problem at all. There was so much to do with the kids inside. Did I mention every activity is included in your stay? It’s so much fun and all inclusive.

The lake at Woodloch is beautiful. We had one day of nice weather and spent it outdoors. The outdoor play grounds are awesome and the sandy beach was so much fun for the kids. It wasn’t long before the girls had their shoes off to dip their toes in the lake. There are paddle boats, boat rides and more. It’s a beautiful setting and so peaceful.

Our room also contributed to the ease of our stay. It was situated in the same building as the indoor pool which made getting there with 4 kids in swim suits, strollers etc, very easy. The room itself was a family style room and had a great layout for assuring everyone got their rest. There was a bedroom with 2 queen beds, a giant closet and a bathroom. There was also a large family room with a pull out and another full bath in that room. There was another large walk in closet/alcove in the family room that was plenty of room for Tommy’s travel bed (not recommended by the resort. Just something I like to do when traveling). So, it was almost like having 3 sleeping areas to separate the kids for naps/bed.

I’d honestly recommend Woodloch to families with kids of all ages. In the two trips we’ve taken there, we’ve had kids from infant to 6 years old and it was ideal for each age. I also think there are so many awesome activities we could do there once our kids were older (about 8-high school). I also think Woodloch would be a lot of fun to visit with a group of friends or our extended family. We had such a memorable first vacation as a family of 6. We can’t wait to go back to Woodloch again someday.
