Star Wars Birthday Party Ideas for Your Little Jedi

January 8, 2016

My son turned five this past November & he knew exactly what kind of party he wanted:  Star Wars.  His life is all about Star Wars.  Markers & crayons turn into miniature lightsabers.  Our couch turns into the Death Star ship.  Our dogs are his miniature Yodas.  He is the biggest little Star Wars fan so we had a lot of fun creating a fun Star Wars themed birthday for the big 5th birthday!

When guests arrived, they were greeted with Darth Vader himself & our Jedi Training check-in.

Guests could make a name tag, put on a special “Jedi” power bracelet (glow stick bracelet), & grabbed a favorite Star Wars mask.

While waiting on more friends to come, the kids played outside before the activities began.  There were 8 Jedi missions for the kids to complete during the party.  I had each mission set up individually, with directions printed right next to the activity so each mission could be completed on their own.  Since most of these kids were four or five and most parents were present, I left it very open-ended.  Kids could do as few or as many missions as they wanted and the whole purpose of the party was to have fun together, but provide lots of fun entertainment for the kids to keep them busy.  Here are the 8 Jedi missions for the kids to complete at the party…

I wrote another post that gave more details on each mission, so check back to see some of the fun things that we did at the party!

Of course you can’t have a party without food, so say hello to our party table!

After completing the Jedi mission activities, we met for cake.  Andrew blew out a big birthday cake with a Darth Vader cake topper & then each kid got a cupcake with a Star Wars ring on top!

Last, but not least, we headed out for a little Star Wars piñata fun.

We said good-bye to our fellow Jedi friends and were glad to give them a little goody cup to go home with them.

As soon as Andrew opened his gifts, it was time to get started on the thank you cards.  I kept it simple as his birthday is right before the holiday season and life is already busy enough.  I decided to go with a simple photo thank you card.  We took a picture with Darth Vader in his new Stormtrooper costume for the front & a picture of his Darth Vader costume for the back.  We added a sweet note & the thank you was ready to send!

This may look like a ton of work, but I didn’t really start getting ready for the party until the day before besides stocking up on some supplies beforehand.  With a few cute printable & a little creative thinking, the party pulled itself together fast.  I had a lot of fun organizing this party & we hope that all of these ideas inspire you to have a force-filled Star Wars birthday party!  Also, don’t forget to check out this post here to see all the fun Star Wars activities that the kids got to do at the party!

Most of the party supplies came from Birthday Express.  This includes: the large Darth Vader standup, the Darth Vader candy bowl, Star Wars paper masks, glow sticks, Star Wars paper products, tablecloths, balloons, the Star Wars piñata, the Star Wars cups & goody bag supplies, Star Wars rings, the Stormtrooper costume & more.  Birthday Express is an one-stop shop for party supplies.  There are a ton of Star Wars party supplies for great prices.

The Star Wars clip art came from Dorky Print.

Thank you Birthday Express for helping with the party planning fun!

Oh my goodness, Julie! We just decided yesterday to have a Star Wars birthday party for Noah's 5th birthday, so THANK YOU for all the ideas! I'd love any additional information or tips you have to share and will definitely keep checking back for the other blog posts. 🙂 Great timing! (Now if only you were closer and I could just borrow that giant Darth Vader cut out!) 😉 Also, what were the "storm trooper sticks"?
