The Chirping Moms

The 12 Days of Toys: Day 10, A Gift to Inspire Your Little Writer!

December 10, 2014

Another fun day of our 12 Days of Toys Giveaways &

today, we are bringing you something for your budding writer…

12 Days of Toys : The Chirping Moms

Aiden entered kindergarten this fall & he has become quite the little writer.  He has created over 20 books since the start of school ranging from a nonfiction book about penguins to a book about his “superhero” brother.  His imagination never stops & he loves to write, write, and write.  As a former teacher & lifelong learner, I am always on the look out for a few special and unique gifts that can spark their curiosity and continue to develop their imagination.  When I noticed the Story Starters (Set 1 and Set 2)from the company, Compendium, I immediately added to Aiden’s wish list for the holiday season.

12 Days of Toys : The Chirping Moms

Story Starters are a collection of whimsically illustrated cards, each with a tantalizing start to a story — all nested in a book-shaped keepsake box.  Parents can read the card aloud, with children chiming in with ideas of where to go next.  It’s up to the writer to decide where to go next.
12 Days of Toys : The Chirping Moms

I love that this isn’t just another toy to put under the tree.  This is something that will stretch their imaginations & inspire them to create.  We are excited to share a great coupon code that our readers can use at the Compendium website.  Other fun finds from their website include:

I inspire y son to use his imagination by giving him a box of craft items. He then creates the greatest artwork.

We make up stories together – one sentence, per person, at a time, alternating back and forth! It's a lot of fun!

I follow along with whatever my daughter is pretending instead of correcting her. Right now she's at the beach in our living room.
