The Honest Company: Newborn Essentials

June 9, 2015

This post is sponsored by Target.

I thought I’d have fewer questions with baby #3. I figured by this time around, I had done the “newborn thing” a couple times before and could just enjoy the baby snuggles and not worry as much. What I found was that with newborns and newborn essentials, all babies are different and there are always questions. What I’ve learned is that it’s always best to be open minded, ask a lot of questions and still try to relax and enjoy those sweet newborn days. Something that has been different with all three of my babies is feeding. While I am the same mom nursing them the same way, they’ve all been completely different. I’ve supplemented with formula for all three, all for different reasons. And all three have liked totally different bottles and different formula. What I’m starting to realize is that with feeding a baby, you can’t decide on exactly what to do before they are born, but rather go with trial and error with an open mind.

Tommy has been by far the easiest to nurse. He also has by far the biggest appetite. I knew, for a few reasons, he’d be having some formula and when that time came we tried a few. He wasn’t loving it and then I saw that The Honest Company came out with a baby formula. We trust The Honest Company for everything from a safe bubble bath to cleaning products, so I was confident in trying their new formula too. Tommy loved it. I noticed from the start that it didn’t have the typical “formula smell” and the consistency was closer to breast milk. I liked what I read about the formula and its ingredients, and was happy we found a great formula for baby #3. The Honest Company formula is certified organic, premium, and nutritionally complete.

One of the best parts about Tommy enjoying bottles, along with nursing, is that I’ve gotten to share in feeding him. His big sisters love helping me feed their baby brother. He smiles at them and tries to help hold the bottle.

One other newborn essential I spotted in Target near The Honest Company baby formula was their new Baby DHA supplement. I was looking for a good vitamin for Tommy and was excited to see The Honest Company now makes one. It’s ultra pure DHA and supports brain and eye development.

Having a third baby has made me realize I certainly don’t have “this newborn thing” down pat just yet, but maybe no one really does. Along with continuing to nurse Tommy, I’m glad I found a baby formula and vitamin he likes and I trust. Now, Tommy’s moving into one of my favorite stages: 6-9 months. He’s sitting, laughing and playing. He brings so much joy to our family!
