The Chirping Moms

This Week’s Giveaway: Truly Sanctuary Tees

November 5, 2012

Tom & I are both music lovers. So at our house, there is a lot of singing & dancing. We play kids tunes for the girls, but also play them a wide range of “our music” too. We listen to everything. We cracked up in the car a few months ago because Maggie asked if we could please listen to “wicky wicky”, which is her way of requesting the Irish song Nancy Whiskey. We played a ton of Irish music leading up to our trip in the spring & obviously Maggie was a big fan!

My whole family loves music. As a kid, my mom was always playing the guitar. As we grew, she would play the banjo to wake us up in the morning (as preteens we found this far from funny). We even have an annual Rock Star Party at the beach. Actually, my family always says they knew Tom was “a keeper” when he attended his 1st Rock Star Party, while we were dating, dressed as Anthony  Kiedis (accompanied by a full performance). I’ll have to write a post sometime highlighting some of our costumes/ performances from years past.  Anyway, I was looking for some fun music related shirts for the girls & stumbled upon Truly Sanctuary.

I love how their company started.

Their story:

“In 2008 when Beth was quite pregnant with their eldest daughter, Truly, they would refer to her ever growing belly as “Truly’s Sanctuary”. Ron had been going to school full-time while slinging coffee to make ends meet. Along with the arrival of Truly Louise, it was becoming a very busy first year of marriage. The 4th of July rolled around, their first major holiday as a family, and because of Ron’s busy schedule he was going to miss out on the festivities. When he left for work it was clear he was feeling pretty low. Beth had to think of something not only to cheer him up, but to let him know she was always thinking about him and proud of the sacrifices he was making for their new family. A ridiculous snapshot of Ron wearing a giant fake mustache instantly came to mind and Beth knew what she had to do. Along with a cheap package of fireworks and a couple of beers, she bought the art supplies needed to carry out operation: Cheer Up Daddy. That night Ron was greeted by his 3 month old daughter wearing a onesie with that silly picture of him right on the front. He instantly felt great…it was personal; it made him laugh and feel loved! That night Ron and Beth couldn’t stop thinking of the different onesies they wanted to make for Truly, then for their friend’s kids. They thought of the dresser full pastel baby clothes adorned with kittens and bunnies and how they’d love to exchange them for eclectic and artsy designs…it didn’t take long to realize that they were on to something.”

I was so happy to find Truly Sanctuary & their awesome shirts.

I chose the girls these shirts each for a special reason.

When is comes to my favorite music, Bob Dylan is in my “top 5”. When Maggie was born I was a pretty calm new mom, except when it came to driving. I don’t know why but I got so nervous driving around with her (her head flopping around, what is we were in traffic & she had to eat?, etc). Anyway, I played a lot of Bob Dylan to calm down & sing along to her.

For Alex, I have been singing “You Are My Sunshine” since the day she came home from the hospital. She still smiles & laughs when I sing it to her.

Now for the giveaway! One lucky winner can choose the item of their choice from Truly Sanctuary’s shop. They have amazing onesies in addition the shirts. Also, start picking out some holiday gifts in their shop because Truly Sanctuary will be part of Yellow Friday!
