The Most Unique Holiday Toy For Kids: Budsies

November 13, 2017

Budsies is by far the most unique toy for kids this holiday season. There are no two Budsies alike because they are designed by your child! Budsies are custom plush toys made from any original artwork. I had heard about Budsies before and thought it was a cute idea. Both of my girls love drawing and love stuffed animals and dolls. The thought of them getting to see one of their own drawings come alive off the paper as a really toy they could play with sounded like something they’d really enjoy. Before recommending them, I wanted to try them out. I am honestly blown away with how cool they are and how special they instantly were to my kids.

First off, I couldn’t believe the quality and size of each of the Budsies that arrived. They were so much nicer than I was excepting. Second, I couldn’t believe the attention to detail. The Budsies looked exactly like what my girls drew – down to details like Alex drawing one of her doll’s eyes larger than the other and Maggie making one of there dog’s legs grey. I think the attention to detail is what really amazing my girls. It was really like seeing one of their drawings come to life.

Disclosure: We were not compensated for this post. We did receive some gift codes from Budsies to try the process however all thoughts and opinions are our own. It is a site we have used, purchased from and will continue to use.

Plus, they each made something that they wanted to play with that they said “you can’t find” in a store. Maggie said she finds dogs that are one color but never like the stuffed animal dog she pictures with yellow, brown and floppy ears. This new Budsie stuffed dog helped me convince Maggie that we can donate a few of the other stuffed dogs we don’t play with.

Alex created a doll that was a princess AND a rockstar: her two favorite things. She draws princess rockstars all the time and said she always wanted a doll that was both  a princess and a rockstar but has never seen one in a store. This doll has not left her side since it arrived. It has the crown she drew and even the microphone in her hand.

Budsies are the truly raw most unique, custom gifts that a child could ever receive! Here’s another reason they make a great gift: placing an order is SO easy. I took a photo of the girls’ art with my phone. Then directly from my phone I emailed it to Budsies with the subject line being a code they give you online. It took just a few minutes.  Then a team of artisans skillfully hand-sew every intricate detail to be sure the Budsie is exactly as the child envisioned. It’s no surprise that kids love their Budsies – not only because they designed it, but because they’re the only child in the world with that special Budsie!

There are a few fun ways to use Budsies as holiday gifts.

  1. If you have a drawing you love or know your child loves, submit it before Nov 17 (the last day for orders to arrive for Christmas). Then surprise them with the Budsie all ready to go!
  2. A Budsies Gift Box : a creativity kit that tells all about the Budsie, how to make, etc
  3. Free birth certificates that arrive in time to be put under the Christmas tree while the plush is being made
  4. There are also holiday-themed Gift Cards The basic cost is $89 for making a Budsie. So you can do one for that amount and you can also ask a few relatives for gift cards and the child can then create their own

My kids love their Budsie SO much that now they make drawings and save them for someday when they can create another one. They both put Budsie gift cards on their Christmas list. It really was such a fun, special project for them. Of all the stuffed animals and dolls that have come and gone over the years, these are the ones I’ll cherish too because they really look like the drawings I watch them make every day.
