Valentine’s Day Card Making Party {With Printables}

January 25, 2015

Last week, we had a fun afternoon playdate in preparation for Valentine’s Day. Since we have a few weeks before Valentine’s Day, I thought it would be fun to spend the afternoon making Valentine cards that the kids could take home with them for family and friends. Before the kids arrived, I set up a few little tables of supplies: markers, stickers, foam hearts, doilies, heart shapes, glue, scissors and lots of pre folded red, pink and white cards.

I also labeled paper bags with the kids’ names, so they’d have somewhere to put the cards as they finished them. Then, after they made tons of cards, they spent the rest of the afternoon running around the house, eating pizza and then cupcakes for dessert. It was a lot of fun and got us all excited for Valentine’s Day.

One other project we did during the party, was to create these “Reasons I Am Loved” books.

I created and printed these pages ahead of time:

Then made these as the book covers:

We took time asking our kids to list something they loved about each of the other children at the party. It was really cute to hear their answers. Then I put together a book for each child of the pages that were written about them. I stapled on the cover and now each child has a sweet little reminder of reasons their friends love them. This would be a lot of fun for kids who can read and write on their own. We had to ask each of the kids to answer and it took a while to write them all/ keep their attention. This would be great to do at school. Then, all the kids would have a book with nice messages from classmates.
