Where to Wednesday: A Family Friendly Place To Stay In Brooklyn

September 4, 2013

I love to travel. Even if it’s just an overnight adventure, not too far from home. Both of my little girls seem to enjoy it too & I’ve gotten used to traveling with toddlers in tow. The one thing that makes each trip, whether near or far, very difficult: how much we have to pack. It’s one thing to bring a few suitcases along, but it’s a whole other thing to start packing: strollers, baby beds, toys, boosters, & more.  Then there are all the things you wish you could bring: a bed for the toddler, baby proofing items, their

favorite scooter or ride on toy, etc. It makes the airline’s rule of “one carry on item” pretty scary!

This summer, we were able to head out for a weekend getaway with nothing but a small suitcase. Did we leave the kids at home? Nope, we stayed at NU Hotel in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks to their NU Kids By Stork program, all the baby & kid “gear” was at the hotel waiting for us.

If you’re traveling to New York City & you have kids, NU Hotel is the place to stay. To create the NU Kids by Stork program, the hotel partnered with a local store: Stork. Together the hotel & store help guests with kids create the perfect hotel stay. In addition to the great products listed to rent, Stork is a full service concierge service – they can even provide diapers & formula if needed!

A Few Reasons NU Hotel is Family Friendly:

– Friends Suite with bunk beds. These beds are a great size for little kids (big kids too!)

– Chalkboard walls and chalk in all of our bathrooms. We always run out of ways to entertain the kids in hotel rooms. This solved that problem!

– The hotel is in a very family friendly neighborhood in Brooklyn. We were able to walk to the Piers, a fun candy store & a wonderful park that was only blocks from the hotel.

They have great amenities available on request:

 – Stokke® Sleepi Cribs

– Baby bathtubs (the Friends Suite does not have a bath tub, so this amenity really makes bathing the little one much easier!)

– Outlet covers

– Tripp Trapp®  Highchair with Baby Set™

Some other items available for rent from Stork:

– Stokke Scoot Strollers

– Nutcase and Kickboard Helmets

– Stokke MyCarriers

– Kickboard Mini/ Maxi Scooters and Balance Bikes

– Toddler Step Stools

– Car Seats

You can also have anything else from Stork waiting for your little ones in the room to enjoy (even some of their adorable clothes). We loved having Melissa & Doug stickers, bubbles & toys to play with.

Our stay at the NU Hotel was one of the highlights of our summer. It was an easy, relaxing & fun time for the whole family. Monday morning my husband hopped on the subway & went to work. Since I didn’t have any gear to lug home, I was able to enjoy an extra day in Brooklyn & then travel home with the girls & our small suitcase.

One of Maggie’s favorite things this summer was learning to ride a scooter. We never travel with it, as it’s not really a “necessity”. Having a scooter & helmut waiting for her upon arrival was such a special treat. She couldn’t believe it! She rode it around all weekend. She even took some time to teach her little sister how to ride.

If you are looking for a fun getaway or you will be in the New York City area this fall, I highly recommend checking out the NU Kids By Stork Program at the NU Hotel.

I was not compensated for this post. I did receive a stay at the hotel for the purpose of reviewing the program. As always, all opinions are my own.
