The Chirping Moms

2 Easy Party Recipes

March 26, 2013

For the second year in a row, I was a little nuts. I hosted a birthday party for Maggie’s friends (18 toddlers) at 3pm & immediately following, hosted a party with our family (30 people) at 6pm. It was chaos, but a lot of fun. My feeling is I’d rather clean my house & prep for one day of partying & clean up one giant mess than doing it all twice. The tough part is preparing food for both parties that morning. This year I made 2 things that were a big hit: 1 for the kids party & one for the family. Both are super easy & can be made in 5 minutes. Enjoy!

Dirt Cups:
You’ll hear more about the party’s theme tomorrow, but Maggie called it her “Simba party”. When I asked what we should eat at the party, she said “Bugs. Simba only eats bugs”. My mom used to make dirt cake in a beach pail every summer & it was always a hit. I decided to make it in little cups & have the spoons in them for easy toddler serving. It worked out great this way & the kids loved them! You can view a healthier/ organic version of “dirt” here.

Easy Crock Pot Hors’ devour Meatballs
Slow Cooker Party Meatballs || The Chirping Moms
This is one of the easiest recipes I make. I use the Trader Joes Party Size meatballs, but really any frozen meatballs or even turkey meatballs will work.
Ingredients:
Bag of frozen meatballs (preferably mini/ cocktail size)
Bottle of BBQ sauce
Jar of grape jelly
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients in a crock pot on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours. That’s it!
