It’s that time of year again: time to pull out all the pink and red arts & crafts supplies for some Valentine’s Day fun. We’ve got a list of 35 Valentine’s Day crafts and activities for kids. This should keep everyone busy from now until February 14th! The first 10 are brand new to the blog this year and the rest of the list links right to some of our past favorites. Happy heart making!

35 Valentine’s Day crafts and activities for kids

1. Pom Pom Heart Wreath

Supplies: Card stock, pink, red & white pom poms and glue

Directions: Cut a large heart out of card stock. Cut a smaller heart out of the center. Have the child dip pom poms in glue and then stick to the heart wreath. I usually put a puddle of glue in the middle of a paper plate. Then, it’s easy for them to dip the pom poms and also easy for clean up.

2. Silly Heart Hats

Supplies: Red paper plate (or a white paper plate and have the child color it red), stickers and scissors
Directions: Fold the paper plate in half. Cut a heart shape out of the center, but stop cutting at the bottom of the heart, so the heart doesn’t detach from the plate (see picture above). Cut extra space around the heart depending on the size of your child’s head. Have the child decorate the heart with stickers. Push the heart up and place on their head for a silly Valentine hat!

3. Heart Photo Wreath

Supplies: Heart hole puncher, photos, glue and card stock or paper in Valentine colors

Directions: Use the heart puncher on the photos to make heart shaped pictures. Punch hearts out of the different colored paper. Use a large sheet of card stock to cut out a heart. Cut a smaller heart out of the center (to make the wreath shape). Glue all of the smaller hearts onto the wreath.

4. Tissue Paper Heart

Supplies: Pink or red paper, pink and red tissue paper, scissors and glue
Directions: Cut little squares out of tissue paper. Since it’s easy to cut through tissue paper, you can also let the kids cut out pieces with child safe scissors. Cut a large heart out of paper and cut a smaller heart out of the center. Cover the large heart in glue. Next have the child pinch little pieces of tissue paper and stick them onto the heart.

5.  Valentine Plate

Supplies:

  • Plate (We used plates from the Dollar Tree!)
  • Oil-Based Sharpie Pens
Directions:
1.  Draw design onto plate.  My older son did his by himself (on the right).  I helped my younger son with his.  I traced his hands, he colored, & I added o”fish”ally awesome quote.  (I would have child wear smock or be aware that the Sharpie paint will not come out of clothes!)
2.  Bake in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
(I would recommend hand-washing as I have never tried my own design in the dishwasher!)

6.  “Eyes” Will Always Love You Valentine Card

This is a super easy craft to do with any age, including toddlers.  Fold paper in half & write “Eyes” Will Always Love You.  Have child glue wiggle eyes onto the paper & decorate the inside of the card.

7.  Marble Painting Heart Banner

This is a fun craft to do.  It may sound complicated, but it’s not!  (I tired to visually give directions in the picture below).  In the bottom of a box, tape card stock hearts.  I got a 12 pack at the craft store for $1.  Fill a muffin tin with different colored paints.  Throw a marble in each color of paint.  Coat in paint.  Place in box.  Close or tape the lid.  Have child shake the box back and forth.  Open and the hearts will have a marble effect.  Take out of box and let dry.  Punch two holes in each heart.  String onto ribbon and hang!

8.  Footprint & Handprint Heart

Another fun craft for any age.  Have child make handprints or footprints in the shape of a heart on a big piece of paper.  Cute to hang on wall or give to family member!

9.  Conversation Heart Stamping

On a piece of paper, we taped a card stock heart in the middle.  Then, instead of paintbrushes, we used conversation hearts to paint.  We went around the edge of the heart to make the heart design & then stamped around the edges to give a fun painting!  You could really do anything you want as long with candy as your paintbrush!
