Have You Tried the Avent Soothie Snuggle?

August 14, 2020

A couple months ago, I shared how we had tried the new Avent Soothie Snuggle when Teddy was born. Like his 4 older siblings, the Avent Soothie was his first pacifier in the hospital. We were happy to see that you could now add a snuggly friend to it when you want and easily remove it for cleaning. The Soothie Snuggle is now something I’ll be bringing to the next baby shower I attend, because it’s a new baby favorite around here.

It’s the same Soothie you know and love (and used my healthcare professionals in the hospital) but now has a plush toy that can attach.  There is sealed weight sewn inside the end of each stuffed animal’s limb which stabilizes the plush toy when your baby is lying down. Also, the plush toy is compatible with all Philips Avent Soothies and pacifiers, so you can mix and match to create the product that baby likes best and can grow with the baby. It easily detaches easily for proper cleaning and sanitizing.

Recently Phillips Avent put out a survey on parental attitudes towards cleanliness of baby products. A few noteworthy finds from the survey:

  • 78% of new parents are worried about exposing their babies to dirt and grime.
  • Yet, only 67% of the respondents do not think they clean their infant’s things as often as they should.
  • On average, infants drop six items on the floor daily
  • 49% of parents reported that they think it’s OK to use the same pacifier for over a month (Philips Avent recommends replacing pacifiers every month)
  • 48% of parents report their infants throw pacifiers on the ground

I love that you can use the Soothie Snuggle with or without the plush toy. It gives you the option of how you use it and how you clean it. Like so many, we are hyper aware of germs right now and taking every precaution to keep our new addition healthy.

I found the cleaning directions that came with the new Soothie Snuggle really helpful. Here’s what you do:

How To Use and Clean Your Soothie Snuggle:

1. To start, detach the Soothie pacifier from the Snuggle

2. Sterilize the Soothie either in a Philips Avent Steam Sterilizer bag or in
boiling water for 5 minutes.

3. After sterilizing, allow the Soothie to cool for at least 5 minutes and
squeeze any trapped water out of the nipple.

4. Check the product before each use and replace the pacifiers immediately
in case of damage or weakness.

5. Philips Avent recommends replacing your baby’s pacifier after four weeks
of use.

6. You can wash the plush toy in a mesh laundry bag with your normal
laundry cycle. Set it out to air dry.

7. Once you’ve cleaned both parts of the Soothie Snuggle you can connect
them back together and give the pacifier to your baby.

8. The plush toy is compatible with all Philips Avent Soothies and pacifiers
which can be swapped out and replaced with age appropriate
soothies/pacifiers as baby ages.

9. Philips Avent Soothies are designed for babies 0-3 months and 3+ month,
and other Philips Avent pacifiers are designed for babies 0-6m, 6-18m and
18+ months.

10. Once your child outgrows pacifiers altogether, his or her snuggly friend
can still stick around and conveniently attach to car seats, strollers, or
backpacks.
