Easy 4th of July Recipe: DIY Patriotic Ice Pops

June 28, 2017

Next week we’ll celebrate 4th of July! This is one of my favorite holidays of the year to celebrate with my family. We all love being outdoors, swimming, bbqs, fireworks and most importantly, our country! Today we’re sharing an easy 4th of July recipe to try: DIY Patriotic Ice Pops.

We don’t have one set tradition as to where we celebrate 4th of July. In fact, we’ve celebrated somewhere totally different each year for the past few years. Our tradition is being thankful for our country and our family, and lots of red white and blue. We dress patriotic and I love making patriotic foods for whatever the festivity is we’re attending. This year I decided to try making patriotic ice pops. The kids had a lot of fun helping me make these and they turned out really tasty. They have a lot less sugar than regular ice pops and were so easy to make.

Here’s how to make DIY Patriotic Ice Pops

Supplies/ Ingredients:
Ice pop mold or plastic cups
Popsicle sticks
Juicy Juice Fruit Punch
Juicy Juice Splashers
Blue food coloring

Directions:

1. Take out the ice pop mold. If you’re using plastic cups instead, place them in a muffin tin or on a cookie sheet.

Pour the Juicy Juice Fruit Punch into the mold/cup filling it about 1/3 of the way. Place into the freezer for about an hour. Right before it’s totally frozen, add in the popsicle stick. Place it back into the freezer until it’s frozen solid.

Next, add the “white” layer of the popsicle. Use the Juicy Juice Splasher to fill each mold/cup another 1/3. Let freeze (1-2 hours). Now it’s time for the “blue” layer. Pour Juicy Juice Splasher into a cup and add a few drops of blue food coloring. Stir. Now add to the ice pop mold/cup, filling it the rest of the way, the remaining 1/3. Let freeze.

Once this last layer is frozen, you’re Patriotic Ice Pops are ready to enjoy.

We used Juicy Juice for our Patriotic Pops. We are big fans of Juicy Juice in our house both because the juice is tasty without all the high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, etc AND because of the brand’s commitment to families. This year, Juicy Juice is committed to celebrating time together as a family. Last month, Juicy Juice launch its year long 100% Family Time campaign. This initiative is all about spending quality time with the ones you love.
