Fun Ways to Prepare for Summer Learning

April 30, 2018

Summer is around the corner! Many parents like to have a few things prepared for keep kids learning during the summer. My favorites: playing outdoors and reading. There are also so many great camps and classes for kids. Today I’m sharing a few of our favorite summer learning printables, book lists and a new place to learn:

New Snapology

I recently learned about a place called Snapology that hosts classes, birthday parties and camps using STEM and popular toys like Legos, Knex, etc. You have to see pictures of this place. This is the type of place that kids will have a ton of fun and not even know they are there to learn!

Cool New Book for Summer Learning

I recently checked out the book Journey to Constellation Station and it’s perfect for summer learning. It’s fun for kids to read and after, you can send them outside to see what stars they can see in the night sky. It’s a rhythmic story about an interstellar train ride goes to special part of space – the magical Constellation Station. Both of my girls love the book (ages 6 & 8) and my younger kids (2 & 3) love it because of the train and beautiful pictures. I would highly recommend this book!

It’s so awesome that kids can learn and still have fun. Snapology would’ve been my favorite as a kid.

It’s definitely important for children to remain engaged with reading and critical thinking throughout the summer. I’ve heard of Snapology and programs like that, that introduce children to STEM principles are prime examples of what I’m referring to.

I love Snapology! Summer is the perfect time to sit outside and learn about the constellations though. That was one of my grannys activities with me and I’d love to pass that on! She used to get me a decaf cappucino and we would sit outside for hours!

Always great if you can mix in critical thinking with fun activities, and it seems like Snapology is the perfect medium. STEM is on the rise, what better time for a kid to learn more than during the time of year they are the most free?
