Printable Chore Chart for Kids

July 1, 2022

Have you been looking for a free printable chore chart for kids? I know that chores are important.  But, for some reason I have a hard time being consistent about making my kids do chores.  Yes, I do ask my kids to do things around the house everyday but we do not have a daily list of responsibilities & expectations for each child.  Often, I find myself doing these simple routine tasks (making beds, picking up toys, etc) that my kids should be able to do without my assistance. We we created a simple printable chore chart to use with my kids.

The earlier you start a chore chart with kids the earlier they’ll learn responsibility and helping out around the house. This one is good for any age but probably starting around 3. All of these things are simple to do and you can adjust the “parent’s choice” based on their age. For example for my 2.5 year old I added “shoes in your cubby” which he knows exactly where that is in the mudroom. For the kindergartner and 1st grader: I switch it up each week. We add things like: take out the trash, help fold laundry, pair socks, clean up the yard and others.

I have also used the “parents choice” if there was something specific school work wise we wanted to work on for the week. Or if you know it’s going to be a rainy week… add some “chores” that will help keep them busy!

I have been meaning to update a chore chart for older kids. To be honest, I usually make a daily list for my big kids. They can help out with a lot around the house and I like to make it tasks I truly need help with throughout the day. What’s great is if you start when they are young with a very structured simple chore chart like this one, as they get older they are used to doing it and don’t think twice when you hand them a checklist for the day.

This printable chore chart includes six easy tasks that I expect from my kids each day as well as a space for parent’s choice.  For parent’s choice, it could be anything that you would like it to be which includes: set the table, take out the trash, or put laundry away.  I’m hoping that this will help teach the kids a little more about responsibility around the house & help keep a little more sanity in our house!

This is super cute and helpful! I love the little icons and the reminders to be kind and read books — these are definitely everyday responsibilities!
