The Chirping Moms

Hit The Lights for This Giveaway!

July 10, 2015

Do you ever try to enter a room carrying way too much & wonder how you are going to get the lights on?  That’s me when I am carrying a gigantic laundry basket full of clothes in one hand & a wriggling toddler in the other hand.  Do you ever have rooms that always have the light on, no matter how much you turn it off or remind the kids to turn off the lights when you leave the room?  This would be the playroom in our new home.  The kids always turn the lights on when they enter, but forget to turn it off when they leave!  Since it is in our basement, I don’t always notice that the light has been left on for hours at a time!  Today, we have an awesome solution for you:

The Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy sensor automatically turn lights on when you enter a space and turn back off when you leave the the room.  All you do is walk into the room & the lights turn on.  The sensor is motion sensitive so once it notices movement in the room, it turns on.  It also detects daylight coming in from the windows, so it will not naturally turn on unless there isn’t enough natural light present.  Once you have left the room & no motion has been detected for a desired amount of time, the lights turn off.

Lutron Electronics sensors are ideal for rooms where lights are accidentally left on such as bathrooms, garages, & kids’ rooms.  Sensors are also an excellent solution when you have your hands full in areas like the laundry room, mud room, or pantry.  We recently installed the Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy sensor in our new laundry room.

This little improvement brings a little joy to the daily trips in and out of this room!  I am loving the way the light turns on automatically while I am carrying baskets full of dirty laundry into the room.  I throw a load in & fold a load to come out.  Once I leave the room carrying a basket of clean laundry, the light turns off on it’s own.  I never have to juggle laundry baskets while trying to switch the lights on and off.  Little things, like this simple sensor, make the day just a little brighter!
To install the Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy sensor, all you have to do is flip your breaker & replace your existing switch.  There is no special wiring & it literally took my husband less than twenty minutes to install.  There are also a variety of colors to complement your home decor.  The Lutron Electronics sensor works with dimmable CFL and LED bulbs, as well as incandescent and halogen bowls.   This sensor switch is not only easy to use, but helps save energy & decrease that energy bill!  There are two models available, one version for small rooms and one version for large rooms, priced at $29 and $41.40.  You can find these at home improvement centers, lighting showrooms, online retailers, and Lutron.com.

I am already thinking about installing another Lutron sensor down in the playroom & also think it would be a great addition to my kids’ closets & pantry as well!  We are excited about today’s giveaway as one lucky reader will win a Lutron Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Dimmer Sensor to use in their household.  All you have to do is enter the Gleam below for a chance to win!

I would install this in my kitchen. It seems like no one ever turns the light out in there.

I would put this in my bathroom-this seems to be the room that has the light left on the most.
