Two Fun Flowery Crafts: Perfect for Mother’s Day!

May 4, 2021

We’re feeling spring-y and crafty over here this week! Mother’s Day, Teacher’s Appreciation Week and a few family birthdays have us crafting like crazy: the kids and me too. Today I’m sharing two crafts we did that are easy, fun and perfect for Mother’s Day gifts. Grandma will love these! We made modge podge picture frames and handprint flowers.

I have a strange love of scrapbook paper. I’ve never made a scrap book in my life but go down the aisle ever time I’m in Micheals. I have lots of scrap book paper with plans of “some day I’ll think of something to do with it”. My girls found some wood frames in the basement and asked if they could paint them and I thought we could attempt to decorate them with some of the scrap book paper that was piling up instead.

The girls really enjoyed this craft. They hadn’t worked with modge podge before and loved that it made the paper “shiney”. I had lots of flowery paper which made perfect frames to use as Mother’s Day gifts.

Modge Podge Picture Frames

Supplies:

  1. Wood picture frame (I get the $1 ones at the craft store or this set from Amazon).
  2. Modge Podge
  3. Sponge Paint brush
  4. Scrap book paper (here’s a pretty floral set on Amazon)
  5. Scissors

Directions: Trace the frame on the scrap book paper and cut it out. Then take out the paper that comes inside the frame and trace that in the center of the piece you already cut out. You should now have a piece of scrap book paper the same size as the frame. Use the sponge brush to add a little bit of modge podge to the frame. Place the paper on the frame and cover it in modge podge with the sponge brush. Let it dry and add at least one more coat. Once dry you have a beautiful floral frame!

Hand Print Flowers

You can make hand print flowers a few ways! If you want a mess free/ no paint version, click here and visit a post we did last year. You can also make all of the handprints on one piece of paper and draw the stems and leaves with markers. Here’s this year’s version we tried:

Supplies:

  1. Paint
  2. White cardstock
  3. Green paper
  4. Popsicle sticks
  5. tape

Directions: Paint each child’s hand and make handprints on the white cardstock. Once dry cut them out. Tape a popsicle stick to the back of each handprint. Cut out leaves from the green paper and tape them onto the popsicle stick too. Now you have a bouquet of adorable handprints!

Cute Spring Outfits for Kids from Bella Bliss

All of the fun, flowery, springy outfits in the post are from our favorite: Bella Bliss. All of the Daisy Floral print clothes they have this spring are so cute and remind me of retro, 60’s florals. The Daisy Floral romper is hands down my girls favorite thing they’ve gotten this spring because it’s so soft.

My boys love the Bella Bliss shorts because they’re so comfy too. They live in the Bella Bliss Play Shorts and the Pima Play Shorts.

I linked a few of our Bella Bliss favorites below:

  1. Check shorts
  2. Daisy Top
  3. Pima Play Shorts
  4. Daisy Romper
  5. Baby Striped Romper
  6. Daisy Bubble
  7. Pima Half Zip
  8. Daisy Pima Shorts
  9. Girls’ Check Shorts
  10. White Polo
