Special Photo Gift Ideas for Grandparents

November 28, 2021

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for grandparents this holiday season, we’ve got you covered. If there’s one thing all grandparents love, it’s photos of their grandchildren. I’m sharing a few fun photo gifts you can have the kids make to display their photos.

A DIY photo gift just adds to the sweetness of the grandparents.

Look for your favorite photos with your grandparents then make them into a personalized gift. Photo books are so in right now and they also make for a perfect gift for grandpa or grandma.

You’ll also find a great photo gift you can buy and some tips for getting some great photos. I hope this helps you make some special photo gifts for grandparents.

Photo Gifts for Grandparents

Step 1: Get some photos the grandparents haven’t seen yet! Dress them up in some adorable outfits. The grandparents will love seeing new photos and it will add to the excitement of the photo gifts. My kids wore their new Beaufort Bonnet coordinating outfits. They look festive for Christmas and the photos will match the gifts so well.

The links to my kid’s outfits are all below. All of the items are on sale this weekend too! Beaufort Bonnet also has so many other sweet options for siblings.

Step 2: Get the kids involved. If they know why they’re taking the photos and know they are making crafts as gifts, they will be more excited and more helpful. Asking them to dress up for no reason normally = a no way…. asking if it’s for a special gift for grandma & grandpa = ok!

Step 3: Make the crafts (see below for the 3 we made!)

Step 4: Add the photos

Step 5: Watch grandparents’ faces light up on Christmas! Whether you will be with them or you mail the gifts and chat with them on FaceTime. These will be gifts they can truly enjoy all year long.

Here are some ideas for photo gifts for grandparents:

DIY Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Frame Ornament

Supplies:

  1. Large popsicle sticks
  2. Mini pom poms
  3. 1 larger pom pom or something for the star
  4. Green paint
  5. Glue
  6. Brown construction paper
  7. Ribbon

Directions: Start by painting the popsicle sticks green. Once dry, glue them together to make a triangle. Glue on the “star” and mini pom pom “ornaments”. Cut a tree trunk from construction paper and glue it to the back of the tree. Make a loop out of ribbon and glue it to the back of the frame (to hang it on the tree). Once your tree is all set, tape a photo in to use it as a frame.

Fingerprint Frames

For these, start with buying a frame the size you want. Then pick out a mat for it. You want a mat that has a decent amount of white space to decorate. I found frames that came with this mat that was perfect for painting on. We made 2 different fingerprint frames:

And one photo gift to buy for grandparents….

My cousin got my aunt a Skylight Frame for Christmas last year and I have been wanting to get one for my parents. It’s such an easy way to share photos with grandparents. Anyone with an email can send photos.

So if all of the family have the email they can send photos at their leisure. This makes it fun because there are constantly new photos for the grandparents to see. The Skylight Frame is really easy to use and makes a great gift.

Making your grandparents a photo gift is not only really fun to do but is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can ever do for your loved ones. So if you’re looking for an awesome Christmas gift or just a simple remembrance, you need to try this out for yourself!

Look no further for personalized gifts for grandparents. Perfect as photo prints or a design to put into your family photo.
