Spread the Love for Valentine’s Day with Kids!

February 7, 2014

We have another fun post for you all as part of our Kids and Kindness series.  Today, I am sharing two easy ideas on how to spread a little love for Valentine’s Day (or really any time of the year)!

Valentine “Kids In Kindness” Idea:  Heart Rocks

The kids and I headed out one afternoon to pick up some rocks near our house.  We brought them home, painted them different colors, and once they dried added a little painted heart.  We spent another afternoon heading out on another walk on the trails near our house placing them down for some neighbors to find out on walks!  What a fun idea to help spread a little “love” on a nature walk.

Valentine “Kids in Kindness” Idea:  Leave a little Valentine message in random spots!

You can have the kids make simple little Valentines, but we opted to use some really fun Love Pop-Open cards from Thoughtfulls.  These pop open cards have a sweet little love quote on the inside while we wrote a little “Have a Happy Day” or “Happy Valentine Month!” on the back without signing our names.

Then, we carried some on our random errands during the week and left them in spots where people would find them later.  Here are some ideas of where we left our little Valentine messages:

  • In the coffee store, on the counter where you add your own sugar and cream
  • On the grocery shelf by a loaf of bread
  • On a mailbox when we headed out for a neighborhood walk
  • Placed on a candy bar in the grocery store checkout
  • Leave in the Target cart when you place in the cart return
  • At the restaurant table when you get up to leave

These are two ways that we are spreading the love this “Valentine” month!  You can see more posts in our Kids and Kindness series by clicking here.
