Taking Care of our Pup as a Family

A special member of our family had a birthday last week. Our loving Boston Terrier pal Jersey turned 8 years old. She’s always been great with the kids, since the day Maggie came home from the hospital. She’s dealt with 3 babies that crawl after her and grab her ears, toddlers that chase her every time she lays down for a nap and little girls that dress her up for tea parties. She is the most patient, loving dog. The girls both love animals and now that they are getting older, they have both shown a greater interest in taking care of Jersey. They like to walk her and feed her and even help give her a bath. While she still has quite a bit of her puppy energy, we know that as Jersey ages, we have to take steps to take care of her in different ways than when she was young pup.

We recently found out about Purina ProPlan Bright Mind dog food. We heard it was great for dogs 7+ and decided to give it a try. It was also time for a new collar for our birthday girl, so we took a family trip to PetSmart. After picking out Jersey’s new collar (a great debate over whether or not she liked pink rhinestones or the color green), we made our way over to the dog food to find her new food.

We found the aisle with the Purina ProPlan Bright Mind food and chose the Small Breed 16b bag to start. We were looking forward to trying the food out and seeing if Jersey liked it. Purina ProPlan Bright Mind is specially formulated to increase cognitive awareness in adult dog (age 7+). We want to take the best care we can of Jersey as she ages.

What I’ve learned about Purina ProPlan Bright Mind food, is that it contains enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs seven and older. Most people have seen visible results within just 30 days.

We enjoyed visiting PetSmart as a family. The kids knew it was a special outing for our special dog’s new food and they were proud to take part in helping Jersey. After we spent some time taking Jersey around the entire store “shopping” we agreed it was time to take her home to try her new food!

We’ve had some fun trying out a GoPro dog harness along with trying out new dog food. Here’s a peak at what Jersey sees on a daily basis being loved (and fed) by 3 little kids:

Do you have an adult dog? What are some of your family’s favorite things to do with your dog to keep him/her active?

What a fun post! I've always wondered what it would be like to see the world from a dog's perspective! Thanks for sharing! #client
