Two Wild Second Birthday

March 23, 2022

Last weekend we celebrated Teddy’s 2nd birthday with a Two Wild theme. It was so much fun and definitely one of my favorite party themes yet! Teddy is a wild and silly little toddler and loves animals so “two wild” was a perfect theme for his birthday.

For little ones, I love a morning party. As toddlers, my kids have always been happiest and most “predictable” in the morning. After that you are timing naps, when they’ll wake from nap & if they’ll be groggy/ not ready for guests. Plus, I feel like morning food is easy for both kids and adults. We do coffee, orange juice, bagels, donuts and snacks. Then post party the birthday boy is ready for nap!

This is also a great theme for a first birthday: instead of Two Wild call it Wild One. You could also use this theme for a third birthday and do “wild and THREE”. Check out this post for even more inspiration on this theme: Wild One.

Here’s how we celebrated our Two Wild birthday and where I found all of the cute animals clothes, decor, etc.

Two Wild Birthday Party

Two Wild Birthday Invitations

I got Teddy’s Two Wild birthday invites from Paper and Ink Design Co on Etsy. The shop owner was delightful to work with and I printed the invited at Staples. They were front and back which I love. The shop also has other cute party items that go with the theme (cupcake toppers, etc).

Two Wild Birthday Cake

Ok… we had A LOT of fun with this cake. I had an idea of what I wanted and really enjoy decorating a birthday cake BUT I can’t bake a cake. We love the cakes from Cake Artist Cafe and have gotten them for so many birthdays over the years. They made Teddy’s adorable 1st birthday “bear” smash cake last year.

Once I got the cake, I got to decorating the scene for the top. I got a pennant banner cake topper from Avalon Sunshine for Miles’ football party and went back to them for one for Teddy. I love this Etsy shop: reasonable, great quality, cute options for every party theme.

Then I made tiny little animal party hats out of cardstock and mini pom poms. I felt a little crazy sitting there hot gluing miniature party hats but once I added them to the animals and popped them on the cake… totally worth it!

Cake Artist also made these adorable animal and #2 cookies. I ordered the “small” size which are perfect for kids.

Two Wild Party Decor

We had a blast decorating for this party. Teddy loves balloons so we went balloon wild! I found a great Etsy shop for balloons and decor: Sweet Amy. The prices and quality were really good. I’ve always seen balloon mosaics but thought you had to spend a fortune to have one.

We got a kit from her shop and Tom and Alex put it together! It came in a box and you assembled it. We also got the “two wild” balloons from there. It was much easier to order as a set than individual letters! Here are links to the decor:

  • Two Wild Balloons
  • Leaf Garland
  • Number 2 balloon mosaic
  • Animal print balloons (I grabbed in the single balloon bins at Party City)

DIY #2 Snack Tray

For this, I bought a 16″ paper mache number. Then I carefully removed one side using a straight edge. You actually just have to cut part of it with the straight edge and then you can carefully peel the rest back. This is my new birthday party go to!

DIY Animal Snack Containers

I made something like this years ago for Miles’ 1st birthday party. I made canisters with little toy cars. This time I used little plastic animals. I made a “how to” video over on Reels if you want to check it out! It was pretty easy: I found the size containers I wanted and then spray painted the lids and little animals. Once everything was dry, I glued the animals to the top.

Two Wild Table Setting

  • Table Cloth: Just some tropical leaf fabric over our tablecloth
  • Giant Palm Leaves/ Placemats
  • Big Plates, small plates
  • Napkins
  • Donut Board
  • Bagel Stand (new favorite thing!)

Two Wild Party Activities

We put out lots of our Little People animals to play with and Maggie did bring out her hamster so the kids could pet a “real animal”. There was lots of playing and eating. For an organized party activity, I set up some safari dress up and a photo station. I saw these adorable photo prop frames on Etsy from Magnolia Papers and Co. She has so many good ones – you have to check out the fire truck photo prop frame too!

For the kids to dress up for their photos and to enjoy “partying in”, we put out:

  • Animal Ears: These are from Etsy shop Party Ears & were adorable
  • Safari Hats
  • Binoculars
  • Stuffed animals

Two Wild Goody Bags

How cute are these bags from Simply Favoured?! These are hands down the nicest goody bags I’ve ever gotten. They looked cute and are something that can be reused vs tossed. Inside I added a few little things like animal lollipops, bubbles and play dough.

Two Wild Party Outfits

Bella Bliss Animal Parade: This spring Bella Bliss has the sweetest line called Animal Parade. It couldn’t have come at a better time and matched the party theme perfectly. Teddy wore this super soft romper at his party and wore his new birthday pajamas all week. He also got this sweet sweater & romper that he’ll wear for some 2nd birthday photos.

Two Wild Tees: We got two adorable tee shirts for Teddy’s birthday because I couldn’t decide and knew he’d wear them both long after his party:

This “Two Wild” tee from First Born Apparel. Check our their Easter shirts too!

And this “born TWO be wild” tee from In Joy Clothing company.

I decided to get into the theme with my shirt too. I found this top on Amazon and it was really comfortable to be chasing around toddlers at a party and very “on theme”.

Pin this party post for later!
