Where to Wednesday: Easter Egg Hunt Planning

February 27, 2013

Easter egg hunts are a great way for kids of all ages to have some holiday fun! I’m planning one now & below I’m sharing some easy ways to throw an egg hunt:

The Invite:

I often use Paperless Post. As much as I love paper invites, these are so for tracking RSVPs & it’s a busy spring around here! Paperless Post has some really cute Easter egg hunt options. Also, if you decide you want a paper version, most of them can be ordered that way too.

The Eggs:

Have each guest bring 5-10 plastic eggs already filled. This will save you A LOT of time & money. Just be sure that the guests include treats that all of the kids attending can eat (in case there are allergies).

Pre-Hunt Craft:

While the parents hide the eggs they brought, have the children stay inside & make their own egg hunt buckets. I found these plastic Easter pails on Amazon, but you could probably find some bigger ones at a dollar store too.

Get Easter stickers or foam cutouts & let the kids decorate their bucket! You could write all of the names on the buckets ahead of time or have the parents help.

Activity:

After the kids are done running around & collecting eggs, I thought it would be fun to do a quick activity to get in the party spirit. I tried to think up an Easter dance & decided “The Chicken Dance” it is!

The Menu:

Juice boxes

Coffee & Tea for adults

Baby carrots

Easter bunny donuts

How to: Get a box of powder donuts, large jelly beans & chocolate chips. For the ears, I browsed the cookie aisle & got a store brand long cookie that I broke in half & iced.

I used regular size donuts, but you could also make them with mini donuts & mini jelly beans too!

A Special Party Treat:

Ann Potter Baking

These cookies can be part of the menu or given at the end as a favor. I sampled some last week & they were delicious! The kids loved them & they were beautiful. These will be a special treat for the parents too! They can be ordered from the Ann Potter Baking Etsy shop.

I think we need an invite to your easter egg hunt 😉 So cute! I love the idea of having the kids make their own baskets before the hunt. Simple and creative at the same time!
