This is an activity we did during quarantine and the kids have now done a few times since. It’s “cool enough” that my big kids love doing it and easy enough that my preschooler can do it too. Tape resist word art is a fun activity for any age. You can make cool name art, spell out words or just do a single letter.

We made happy, cheerful words and displayed them in our windows with our rainbows during quarantine. Doing single letters is a fun way for little ones to practice the first letter of their name and something nice  for them to display.

Doing these on canvas works best but can really be done on anything. If you have lots of cardboard boxes from deliveries, you can do this project on a piece of cardboard too.

Tape Resist Word Art

Supplies:

  • Masking Tape or painters tape
  • Canvas or cardstock
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes

Directions:

Step 1: Use the tape to spell a word, your name, or a letter (fun way to practice letters for little ones!)

Step 2: Paint your canvas/paper any way you’d like!

Step 3: Once the paint is dry, peel off the tape.
