Patriotic Recipes: A Fun Summer Drink for Kids

May 20, 2020

This is a sponsored post for Juicy Juice, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

We love making red, white and blue food and drinks for Memorial Day and 4th of July. Each year we make a few old favorites and like to try some new patriotic recipes too. This year we realized we never have patriotic colored drinks to celebrate.

My kids are not big smoothie fans and most red, white and blue ideas I saw were smoothies. Then we spotted a cool drink recipe on the Juicy Juice site that looked perfect for Memorial Day.

Juicy Juice Lemonade Fizz

We tried out the Juicy Juice Blue Grape Lemonade Fizz. We ended up using the Juicy Juice 100% Juice Berry as the juice. It tasted great and was “red” for our patriotic version of this drink. They suggest making ice cubes with the blueberries which sounds really fun but we didn’t have any ice cube trays. We hope to try it with the frozen blueberries sometime this summer.

So we followed the directions on the Juicy Juice site, but for our version and to make it patriotic: use a berry juice, floating blueberries and a red or blue straw!

My kids loved this drink AND I did too. It’s really refreshing and great for enjoying outside at a family picnic. The fresh squeezed lemon juice with the juice and “fizz” make such a delicious combo!
