BOOKS TO WATCH

My kids have always loved the book 10 Timid Ghosts. We found this cute read-a-loud from a teacher of the book:

SONG: 5 Little Ghosts

Here are the lyrics & a cute video to watch to learn the tune (both from SuperSimple):

Five little ghosts went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
But back to the house only four ghosts flew.

1, 2, 3, 4.

Four little ghosts went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
But back to the house only three ghosts flew.

1, 2, 3.

Three little ghosts went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
But back to the house only two ghosts flew.

1, 2.

Two little ghosts went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
But back to the house only one ghost flew.

1.

One little ghost went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
But back to the house no little ghosts flew.

Sad mother ghost went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
And back to the house all the five ghosts flew.

Five little ghosts went out one night.
Haunting, spooking, what a fright.
Mother ghost said boooooooo…boo!
And back to the house all the five ghosts flew.

5 FUN GHOST CRAFTS

1. Ghost Footprint Craft: You just need black paper, white paint and a foot!

2. Ghost Cotton Ball Craft: I can’t believe I 1st did this craft & posted it on the blog 8 years ago! Here’s the original post with directions: Hanging Ghost Craft . This is a great one for fine motor. I have done it with kids as little as 18 months and they enjoy dipping the cotton in a bowl of glue and then onto the ghost. It’s simple and looks so cute when it’s done.

3. Spooky Toilet Paper Ghosts: Click here for directions. This is always a BIG hit with kids!

4. Paper Plate Halloween Masks: Click here for directions

5. Chalk Ghosts: This is super simple… just give give the child black paper and white chalk and have them draw ghosts. It’s fun and looks cute no matter what they draw! For kids learning letters have them write “boo” with the chalk too.

SNACKS:

1. Ghost Yogurt Drinks: simply peel the label off your drinkable yogurt & draw on a ghost face

2. Halloween Veggie Chips (I found them at Target)

3. Ghost String Cheese: Use Sharpie to draw a ghost face on the outside (the plastic packaging) of a string cheese

HALLOWEEN SENSORY & FINE MOTOR ACTIVITIES

Cotton Ball Ghost Tray: Spread cotton balls on a large tray. Add items that can be a ghost face. I used an oval cut from a black paper plate, large google eyes and some fun pom poms. Have the child use tweezers to remove all the pieces and then put them back. We love the Learning Resources “Squeezy Tweezers” for this.

Ghost in a Bag: This is a fun “spooky” spin on our super popular “snowman in a bag” (click here). Add a ghost face on a zip lock bag. Any size zip lock will work. Add a little shaving cream to the zip lock and have the child spread it around to make the ghost. They are spreading the shaving cream inside the bag by pressing on the outside of the bag, so there is no mess.

MOVIE: Curious Georgo Boo Fest

Curious George Boo Fest has been a favorite Halloween movie in our house for 6 years now!! It’s adorable, has fun music and the perfect amount of boo! You can find is on Amazon or Hulu.
